Dunno if this has already been discussed but i am being told that a sim for 2degrees will be $2 from the supermarket.

Makes me laugh at telecom's xt sims at $19.95 that come with no credit.

All of these are just rumors. 2Degrees hasn't released any pricing whatsoever yet.

Although it would be really nice :D

i have heard the supermarket part before but not the $2 bit seems likely depending on your source because they are free if you sign up to the Chinwag

Source is the 2degrees PK party they had at east pier in Napier so they could hype everything up for the local sales drones at noels, dse and harveys.

Unfortunatly they didnt give away plan pricing or any other good info but they did have some nice looking drinkbottles they gave out.

Not everyone is guaranteed a simcard from the Chinwag promotion though.

I'd say there is plenty of SIMs for that Chinwag promo though....

I'd be surprised if heaps of people missed out

You may find it's a retail thing, for supermarkets to sell something it needs to have a price.

Also stops people just grabbing handfuls of them using the credit and tossing them.

Does anyone know how much wholesale SIM's would cost?

You're assuming they're coming preloaded with credit though.

Obviously yes, the price would be higher should they have included credit,

but I wouldn't mind paying a small fee for sim card only.

Even to have your one REPLACED from vodafone or telecom its still like $19.95 or something stupid.

They are $2 with $2 of credit, or there's one for $20 that comes with $20 of credit..

I am assuming that because everyone keeps talking about this 2D $5 credit SIM deal they are going to be doing, but it's all just rumour till they launch.

I wonder if it's too geeky to print out 2D's SIM artwork and cover over my Telecom SIM with it hehe.

Yeah I was suprised even signing up to XT on like the OneRate 400 plan they asked me to pay $20 for the SIM - but I did signup a 9am on launch day and I have a feeling it was a mixup and they don't usually. (There were telly cameras in the store and it was pretty chaotic...)

I hope they release some more details soon... There was a special on TVNZ 7 at 9:10PM tonight I just missed which was talking about all the telco's...2D mentioned it on facebook from memory.

The SIM artwork goodness starts here with a look back on the visual history of SIM's in NZ, all the way through to the yet to be launched 2 Degree's artwork we all pine for :)

OT but if the SIM is faulty then Telecom will replace it for you. You only pay $19.95 if it's lost, stolen or broken.

Or a huge $29.95 from Vodafone regardless, R I P off...

In Australia Vodafone sims (with no credit) were $2 and they used to be heaps cheaper here too (free for on account and the equivalent credit value for prepay, $10-$20).
