My apologies for the question. It actually was a question from an interested friend so please understand. But yes the question is bound to come up anyway.

Of course I would hope my friend went with 2degrees but he is currently contracted.

I know that you could buy this number on prepay and then port but question is can you port it tian existing contract with another provider?

I think that would depend on the other provider.

Hey Geekzoners!

The next set of Trademe numbers are going up on Sunday. They are previewing on the site now... calling all Matthews, Melissas (sorry no Magu :-) ) and it will be interesting to see just how lucky 022 888 8888 is here in NZ.
If you're after an 022 number and your number is not on Trademe then (I know I've mentioned it before..) all you'll need is a 2degrees SIM card and from launch you'll be able to go online and choose a new number that is a little bit more 'u'.

Cheers!
2degrees

I'm glad there's no MAGU on TradeMe. :)

I am guessing that the names on trademe are only the ones that 2degrees do not have staff working for them using those names ;)

As of 3:35 am on Monday morning, the 022 888 8888 number is worth $1500. I wonder if these bids are real or not. They must be banking on winning lotto.

I know many businesses that would pay up to several thousand for a good telephone number.
In Oz, some companies will pay up to $50,000 for a good 1800, 1300 or 13 number.

I'm sure there are plenty of mobile-orientated companies out there that are interested. And at least the money is going to a good charity!

The bids are undoubtedly genuine. You seem surprised.
