Fortunately the SIM cards are cheap as chips (literally) if people can't wait for theirs to come in the post.

One of the problems with forums is your true intention can be difficult to guage. I apologise for being blunt earlier but it was only your 3rd post so dont really know your personality. You used the words "Lies!" and "dumb" which I felt was not justified. I think you will find that this forum has a more mature way of discussing issues which is why I enjoy coming here to learn.

You don't need to apologise. I understood where you were coming from.
I do make very random statements and my selection of words isn't the best :)

Never the less! Back on Topic!

I heard that 2degrees has their own network in Auckland + Wellington.. but then they piggy back off other networks.. That's just what I've heard.. is this true? Does anyone know?

Yes they have their own towers in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch but everywhere else in the country they are using Vodafones towers

Would that mean if they are using Vodafone's towers that they would most likely get second best treatment. E.g Vodafone Clients would get priority?

You know what telco's are like when other people are using their networks.. they do stuff to distrupt their competition etc.. etc.. I think I spent too much time working for Telecom :P haha

I doubt very much that it'd be like that.

A phone would be utilising the network or it wouldn;t. I doubt the technology is there to determine if it's a VF or 2D phone that's actually using the signal and then decide who gets first dibs.

For now.  My understanding is that 2 degrees will eventually have their own towers, with similar coverage to that of Telecom and Vodafone.

The current roaming agreement with Vodafone is only temporary until their complete network is up and going.
