My understanding is that the agreement signed over local calling also covers a different MTR from the norm, but I'm happy to stand corrected.

That's to do with the home zone product, I don't think another MTR was negotiated but I may have missed something.

jmosen: Two Degrees have negotiated their own deals on MTR with both Vodafone and Telecom, and we don't know what those terms are.

Remember, if a user texts telecom from 2degrees, chances are Telecom will text 2degrees back.

So, 9.5c from 2d to TC, then 9.5c from TC to 2d. No loss but they still charged the customer the original 9c for the text which they keep.

It doesn't affect what you have said, but telecom only charge 2degrees 3.5c per text message

Actually I think those are just 'undertakings', or offers, and so not yet in effect unless the Comcom/Govt accepts them...

For an occasionally used Prepaid service, 49c to any network and 9c SMS is actually quite good value, they probably don't want the heavy texters but the plain old average users whom use their phones on a moderate basis.

Compare that to competition, especially the 90c, rounded up to the next minute, ouch...

Advertisements appearing on stuff are showing 9c per text, 44c per minute for calls.
$20 top up gives you 100 free texts.
