Their coverage is pretty extensive in Auckland actually. Goes as far west as Piha, as far south as Papakura (and further I think), as far north as at least Orewa (not sure if it extends beyond that though). There is a bit of Vodafone roaming overlap in the extereme west/north/south but generally 2degrees covers most of the Greater Auckland population.
Anyone who's talking about what 2D will/won't do with regard to 3G is pretty much making stuff up... only 2D knows what it's going to do for launch (and who it's partnering with) and I don't think they've said openly what/where/when will happen.
This idea that somehow VF will or won't allow 2D to use 3G for roaming is pure speculation.

No, it dies halfway between otahea valley road and the service center going north.
Going out west its changed to VF just up past kumeu, coming back on the coatsville road it changes a couple of times back and forth from what I have observed.
When I tried 2 degrees in a newer phone than I normally use it actually lies and says 2 degress all the time, not changing to vodafone. I suspect some simcard trickery happening there.

Last time I was up north the last 2D site was up as far as the last BP station prior to the tunnel. I can't recall whether the Orewa township has 2D coverage. So coverage up to at least just before Orewa. Your observation about Drury sounds right though.

The cell at the BP station heading North is a Vodafone cell and the cell in front of Snow planet is Vodafone and the cell on the left hand side a few KMs before the tunnel up on the hill is a Vodafone cell.
Trust me the last 2D cell is a few KMs north of Albany on the right as you get to the bottom of the first run away from Albany.
