richms: I said that about ADSL and everyone was all going on about it working in a lot of cases etc.

What telecom need to do IMO is replace their poor excuse of a demarc with a propper one and not care past it. The current crap with them replacing internal wiring etc is nuts IMO.

Why is it nuts?

The simple fact is people expect Telecom to fix their problems even if they were caused by DIY gone wrong. If you are paying the wiring fee this entitles you to get this fixed.

A significant number of people who moan about poor broadband in NZ and moan about Telecom delivering poor broadband are suffering from poor performance due to internal wiring. This is an issue that needs to be fixed which is why Chorus will spend time fixing it if you call them in.

because they are in the industry of providing a service to a property, the internal stuff should be left to the property owners choice of electrician etc. That would move it to landlords and not the telco to do internal stuff. Telcos often do unauthorized work on houses etc.
