Just about Everyone on Geekzone knows I work for Vodafone NZ and also admin the Vodafone NZ forum I have never hidden the fact and it would be difficult considering I have " Trusted Vodafone " beside my user name

Ok, calm down everyone. Here's my take on this...

Rubygirl posted here before and was banned. She used Geekzone as a soapbox and the only she can talk about is scam, scam, scam, scam. We all know the Premium SMS "info" is riddled with scammers. Get over it. Rubygirl ban was lifted on request of another user - and I have no problems in banning her again if she starts being confrontational.

JohnR is like that. He goes directly to the point and writes what he thinks. Sometimes it looks too sharp, but get over it. I've met him many times and know exactly how it is. Also he does work for Vodafone and, with Paul Brislen, they are responsible for some interaction with the company. So no one touches him (at least for now).

So out of the personal area folks and into SMS scam discussion, otherwise this is locked and deleted, and Rubygirl loses her soapbox.

I have looked at 2 cases where friends were "scammed" and the costs were clearly spelled out in the agreement they clicked thru on.

I would call it an education on reading contracts before accepting the terms, not a scam. God forbid those idiots go and finance something and then complain about the penelty charges when they mess up. Oh crap, the same retards have done that too.

Life has decisions and results of those decisions. The result of doing the BS test on facebook is you have to pay the creators of the BS test. Not a scam, unreasonably priced - hell yeah, but if I sell you a banana for twenty bucks and you go oh yeah, I will have one a week then its not my fault, its not a scam.

Scam would be saying I would sell you a banana and then taking the twenty bucks and you get no banana.

That would depend entirely on how you define "best". If you're to look at many aspects that people consider important today such as?coverage, being 3G capable and offering good?data speeds and pricing it doesn't?rank well.

About coverage... can anyone actually give a factual direct comparison of the coverage comparisons between Vodafone and 2 Degrees....

I don't know the ins and outs of the roaming agreement, but lets assume for a second that 2 Degrees had access to EVERY SINGLE cell site on Vodafone's network to roam on (outside their own sites)...

Wouldn't that mean 2 Degree's coverage was potentially better?

I've actually got the Vodafone & 2 Degrees Googlemaps overlays and cellsite maps loaded on my pc.
Unfortunately the amount of RAM required to load up every single coverage overlay image far exceeds anything close to being able to make a comparison... any suggestions on how I could make it not so hungry? (and then be able to do a genuine coverage comparison)

To summarise: in the geographical areas where we have sufficient coverage across a whole Vodafone Location Area, that LAC is forbidden for roaming. So generally speaking no, you do not have access to every Vodafone cell site. Only the 2G ones outside our coverage areas.
