I dont know about your specific area, but around chch anyway (From what ive seen).

If you have an ADSL2+ capable cabinet / exchange, you automatically get it.

Have you checked the basics and checked you are on / within an ADSL2+ capable exchange.
If you are within the ADSL2+ exchange area, you have to wait for the cabinet to also be upgraded ( of on one).

http://www.telecomwholesale.co.nz/maps - as posted by others here already.

Also have you checked you have an adsl2+ modem ?
Have you checked your modem is on the ADSL2+ profile & not GMT.

The ADSL2+ upgrade on TelecomWholesale maps isn't necessarily accurate, i.e. I've seen it say one thing and then a couple months later that becomes reality. If the date on it has passed, it may be coming but not active yet.

Yea on that map my location is within both the ADSL2+ area and 10Mbps.
I have a wag160n which is capable of adsl2+
Our cabnet just got upgraded also, hence the reason for requesting adsl2+

Read your PM, it's the envelope next to your name at the top :)

You're not on a cabinet, you're fed directly from the exchange.

I too am on Slingshot and am having issues getting ADSL2+ from them.  I am on the Ponsonby Exchange (800m from it from memory) and I upgraded my modem the other day to an ADSL2+ capable one but I am still getting line speeds that are ADSL.

I have emailed and phoned Slingshot's technical help with no success.  I got some story from the tech I talked to about how I can only get ADSL speeds as Telecom/Chorus will have put me on an ADSL port and that Slingshot can't ask to have me moved.

Scott, can you please pm me and help?

Slingshots customer service is so shocking that I dont recommend even bothering to try sort an issue out via their helpdesk... Even the most basic things like confrencing when transferring to a new agent is not done there... total joke company, dont waste your time.

Vallonroe: I am a Slingshot customer and I'm pretty certain that they have done what all the others have done & outsourced their call centre to India or the Phillipines ( they pronounce my name Parrrkiinsen) , yes it can be frustrating especially when you're on hold for 5-10 minutes

5-10 mins?!  You must be extremely lucky, I'm on hold for more than 20 mins every time and end up giving up...all I want to do is find out whether I'm on a 12 month or 6 month contract (hopefully 6 month contract so I can LEAVE and be done with this piece of cr@p ISP)...when you e-mail accounts@slingshot.co.nz it refers you to their online help/faq.  When I e-mailed originally using the online enquiry page the helpdesk person never answered my original question...pretty hopeless really.

I dream of ADSL 2 since my move to Slingshot 2 weeks ago. With 2 differnt ADSL 2+ modems I have been unable to get above 1 Mbps no matter time of day or day of week, using Slingshots own test.

Yes I'm on AYCE and expected slower speeds but this is barely better than dial-up.

Might have to bite the bullet and go back to XTRA

IMHO Slingshot really have not provided anything like the service they have advertised.

Phone them and tell them, 'it's over!', like they do on their TV ad.

I don't bother to use their call centre, unless you can be bothered to wait for 30 minutes or more.
Just email them, you do get a response after a few days.Their customer support is not good, but I don't think they care too much.

My experience was I spoke with Telecom and Snap about improving my connection speeds and they were more helpful and knowledegable. After 3 weeks of inquiry slingshot managed to check my account connection speed amd saw that my up speed was capped to 128Kb. They said they had given Telecom the incorrect information. It has since been fixed and down an ping are also better. Slingshot gave me 20Gb free, so it's not all bad...I guess.

scottr: If you're on AYCE then you're on UBA, and if you're on UBA and ADSL1 then it's pretty likely ADSL1 is all you can get.

OP, I've PM'd you with more information specific to your situation.

You seem to work for slingshot? if you do, imo you should pm freitasm to get a trusted tag/ slingshot nz tag so people know to trust you if you pm asking for account info etc....

Ok done. :)
