I also have found very good 3G on my Iphone from 2Degrees. I have in fact found that network data (Edge) is fine for most of the stuff I need to look up (text based sites and emails).

I thought the $20 excellent value and found I could not even use half of that in my first month. I do not stream videos on my mobile device, nor would I want to but that is the only way I know to chew through that much data.

this first poster smells trolley to me

It works fine in central Wellington. It's not the same as my cable modem at home, but web browsing, updating apps, rss, and youtube all work fine on my iTouch via my MiFi thingy.

<sarcasm>

I couldn't get the the 2degrees mobile data to provide me with the same 100 Mbps I am getting on my TelstraClear cable modem...

</sarcasm>

Seriously though folks. The OP was just being a stirrer and using this as either a soapbox or trying to Google bomb 2degrees - didn't even visit the site after posting this, so I doubt s/he is really interested in finding out the "opinion" is actually invalidated by everyone else's experiences.

bjones: 2degrees data useless
prepaid "BroadBand" (?!)  $20 for 1G.
Useless, dont bother

Was 20 for 1 ever a good deal?

On the Positive side: Its prepaid, no contract to break

Negative: Pathetically slow, dont go there
Is this:
Not fit for purpose?
Not Merchantable Quality?
Conspirfacy to defraud?
Seems the new way to get rich (Carlos Slim) is to promise the rubes phonew "BroadBand"

Which Vodafone/Telecom department do you work in?

Recently got 2degree for my backup broadband in case the net got capped or slowed (sharing net with 7 other people is never been easy to manage when there are 2 switches and 1 router)

So far I am pretty happy, ping is quite reasonable and Starcraft II and MW2 are playable

Come back Brian Jones - oops hes been blocked! so dont grumble about his failure to reply!
Accusations of possible financial ties to a critic must surely also apply to a site that blocks a critic.

I'm John Bonham, a close friend.
I find 2degrees tolerable in downtown Wellington...  OK for slowish facebook use.
Wouldnt make a Skype phone. So is it good enough?
Anyway as Brian actually said, its only a $20 gamble.
The rest of his post was questions.
Well has anyone successfully used 2Degrees as a Skype phone?
Wouldnt that be the measure of true 3G?

It took me only 2-3 minutes to download a whole album from iTunes on the iPod Touch via 2degrees, it was around 120MB. That's slower than cable at home, not surprisingly given the 15Mbps cable connection, but faster than I expected.

He was contacted by myself to reply to this thread - he did not reply to myself or this thread in z reasonable amount of time so I assumed he was no longer wanting anything to do with the site or thread.

If you or he wish to discuss this further then PM me.
