2degrees data useless
prepaid "BroadBand" (?!)  $20 for 1G.
Useless, dont bother

Was 20 for 1 ever a good deal?

On the Positive side: Its prepaid, no contract to break

Negative: Pathetically slow, dont go there
Is this:
Not fit for purpose?
Not Merchantable Quality?
Conspirfacy to defraud?
Seems the new way to get rich (Carlos Slim) is to promise the rubes phonew "BroadBand"

When you say slow, where is it slow to? What are the speeds? What kind of phone are you using? Where are you? Its a pretty general and useless statement to make by not providing any information other than just a general "I'm pissed off so I'll make a new user on Geekzone and try to stir up trouble"....

You do realise that's a great deal for 3G data right?
Where abouts are you using it? With what phone? Do you have a 3G signal? On 2degree's towers or vodafones?

Otherwise I suspect a troll, especially since this is your "first" post.

It is understandable that they use wireless technology which is not exactly the best QOS in the world. But making up statements or lies is not a great way to go about showing your displeasure with the service.

"Conspirfacy to defraud?" ... Learn to spell, and no it is not about fraud.
"Seems the new way to get rich" are you serious?

It's not that bad, I mean I just go this 5 sec ago...

I have noticed Telecom's latest advertising mentions "3G everywhere"

$20 for 1GB of 3G data is an absolutely brilliant price - you've obviously not bought 3G data from anyone else previously.

You also need some facts in your post such as what you are trying to use it from and where you are located.

It would be interesting to find "bjones" IP and cross reference it with other GZ accounts...

Great 3G price, but doesn't mean its a great price. $20 will get you over 10 - 15 times the amount of data on ADSL. Why is 3G more expensive? The data costs the same for the provider to buy the data from overseas. And surely its cheaper to put same radio waves out than it is to wire to every property...

From handset to Mobile tower then via adsl/fibre so why is the mobile bit so expensive?

Ooooh you just had to ask didn't you?! I'm not going there on this one.

With a population of FA and 2x the cost to service the same amount of land because of our hills. Don't forget to take into account how much (little) bandwidth is available over the air with the technology that is available...

This excellent post by bjones has caused me to rethink my next 2degrees purchase.

This is a well thought out, hard hitting critique. He raises a number of very solid points and backs them up with a well thought out discussion of each point.

I especially like his advanced discussion technique using "Pros and Cons", this really gives creedence to what could have otherwise been a fairly standard, almost unbelievable review.

I hope 2degrees takes this post seriously and does something about the quality of their network. Otherwise, the post one of terminally stupid idiot could well upset their marketshare.

Audiophiles are such twits! They buy such pointless stuff: Gold plated cables, $2000 power cords. Idiots.

As a counter-point to your post, my experience with 2D mobile broadband has been entirely positive. When cooped-up in WN hospital the connection to the outside world was a (virtual) life-saver. Speeds I experienced on their HSDPA network were in the multi-Mbps range, fast enough for my needs.

Whist not wishing to feed the trolls, I'll add that my 2degrees broadband experience has been excellent!
I was gifted some data by 2degrees with my new iPad micro SIM. The performance is SO good that I have found myself turning off Airport at home, and using the 3G connection instead! During the evenings it is often noticeably much faster than my home broadband (xnet).

Cheers,
Joseph.
