sbiddle: It isn't a bug, it's the way things should work.

If you use a Nokia you'll get a similar message. "Active Diverts" will come up on the screen when you make a call. This occurs if you have VM enabled on your line because there is a divert on no answer active on your line.

The difference being this dialogue we're getting on the iPhone forces you to dismiss it every time before you can use any of the screen and I'm fairly certain people don't have that with other carriers in NZ when using an iPhone :(

Oh, I jumped to the right conclusion.

Do you still have any support contract left with Apple?  This sounds like a question for them.

cAPTAIN_k: Correct me if I am wrong in my interpretations here:

Ok so the prompt that has to be dismissed every time I make a phone call to use the keypad etc. Is referring to the call diverting to voicemail feature that just about every cellphone user in the world has as standard?

If that is the case, I am fairly certain people do not have this hinderance on other carriers so is there something that can be done in the case of 2degrees to make this already awesome provider even more aeae?

Thanks Captain,

Yep, we are looking into it. It's a known issue with the iPhone on our network and hopefully have some more news soon.

I know I suffer this problem with my iPhone 3G on a Vodafone pay as you go sim, infact it did it yesterday!  Had never seen it before when I was in the UK which is why I remembered it!

n4: I believe its also a function of the carrier bundle on the iPhone?

See here: http://www.iphone-network.net/annoying-call-forwarding-active-popup-and-custom-carriers-plist/

If you have iOS4 and a properly 'signed' carrier bundle (eg Vodafone) you won't have this issue, I'm guessing because the VF carrier bundle turns it off. However that is not the case with 2degrees and it seems Apple in thier wisdom decided to implement the notification as a default for phones without a signed carrier bundle. Perhaps as punishment for not using an 'approved' carrier? :-)

Do you have to 'dismiss' it or does it go away by itself? (in which case its not really an issue I guess).

If you have not yet upgraded to iOS4 you can apparently edit a file on the phone to stop this happening.

I'm not sure that this is the cause. If this was, logic suggests that the pop-up would also appear when using an iPhone on Telecom, but it doesn't - it seems to be limited to 2Degrees only.

Mmm. Does ANY phone show 'Call diverts active' when you make a call on Telecom? Perhaps they have something turned off.

It does go away by itself ... in fact, it only really stays on the screen for about 2 seconds before disappearing on its own ... (ios 4.10, ip4)

Also if you dial the number and put the phone to your ear you'll never really see it ...

Where I can see it could be annoying for some is if you dial the number and then want to switch it to speakerphone straight away or suddenly stop the call ...

But for myself, dialling a number and then letting it ring, don't find it an issue. But then again, do I actually use my iPhone to call people? Pretty much never.  Cool

This annoys the hell out of me!

Always have to press dismiss at the start of every call and it also delays me pressing speakerphone.

Hi people,

You may have already noticed this but just to update you all. We recently made a network change to prevent this issue from happening. The Forwarding active notification box should no longer be appearing.

Feel free to report back here if you are still experiencing the notification though or simply PM me.

Thanks everyone for your patience :)
