I would like to see the ability to tweet from a 2degrees mobile. Every time I have tried to set this up Twitter can't seem to send through the info to my cell (which is a ported Vodafone number). After reading some of the above this could be either at Twitter's end or somethig to do with ported numbers.

freemark:

  1. Somebody let Nokia etc know there is a 3rd operator in NZ, and give them the settings - this is fro Ovi etc and tethering mobile to PC (I know, JoikoSoft is great but heavy on battery)

  2. Let FaceBook know about 2Degrees, so they can update their menu for txt updates.

+1 Good stuff

If 2D can offer mobile TV too。。。

MOBILE: Huawei P30
OTHER: Thinkpad E14 + Asus Vivobook + Intel NUC5i3 + A family of Raspberry Pi x 9 + Amazon Echo

My wish too!

so a big +1 for me.

A wish for me is a data bundle between 50mb and 1gb! Maybe 500mb or 250mb.

For me. a longer period to consume my 50mb would be very handy. Say 3 months, or frankly what does it matter when I use the 50mb as long as it was say within the year. Trying to manage the data consumption so that it fits within some arbitrary time period seems to be a waste of time and prevents me from buying a block "just in case".

Cheers Mike

+1 for this, mostly for my iPad, which i hardly use out and about.  I would probably only use about 50mb over 3g on it a year.

Re TXT-a-Park (TAP).

This has nothing to do with council. The solution is made up of several organisations (council, application provider, and supplier of meters) as well as the major Telcos.

In terms of Telco's, Telecom and Vodafone currently have agreements to provide this on their network, I think from memory Telstra clear customers can also use the solution, probably down to their reseller agreement allowing access to all services.

2 Degrees would need to build the necessary capability into their network if not already in existence to allow TAP to work, they also need to agree to the terms and conditions of the solution and associated commercials to be part of the TAP group that delivers the solution.

It’s great to hear so many people currently on 2 Degrees wanting this service; it is very popular and accounts for a significant volume of the overall transactions.

So you're saying that council owned parking where they have subcontracted a third party to provide a service has nothing to do with council.

If people really want this to be setup they should start ringing the council call centre to complain that the service is not available.

Uhm Yes that is what I mean.

I wasnt' aware a council could instruct a Telco they must provide billing services to them.

What if 2Degrees don't have the necessary network capability to prvovide the service? What about agreeing to the commercial terms and condition that cover the solution? Oh and almost all councils around NZ who have pay and display machines as well as a number of other private operators (Wilsons, Tournament, etc) use have this capability today its not just Auckland.

I know 2Degrees are well aware of the demand for this service, and I am sure it is on their huge list of services they want to deploy.

If you want TXT-a-Park on 2Degrees, I imagine the best thing to do is to contact them and tell them. The council is keen to see compliance increase, by offering multiple payment options helps them to achieve this.

Great to see all the replies and debate on this peeps.

I think it is fairly obvious that 2degrees now has a good following of technically literate and commercially aware customers. Before launch I was discussing with a mate who was previously country manager of very large network supplier how this new entrant would go, our consensus was that the barriers and costs were too great, so it is a pleasant surprise to be an enthusiastic and loyal customer.

I have a minor gripe with all of the mobile operators in that we pay for voicemail access - with no interconnection fees this seems like a bit of a rort. The rollover minutes on @Degrees is bloody awesome tho, and I must admit that the plans, costs and 3G work pretty well for me.

Cheers all

My wish for 2degrees, a bestmate and family plan offering!

Would the 2degrees call - 2degrees call create a neutral MTR meaning that the service effectively costs nothing to offer on-net?

Not sure exactly how that MTR concept works, But family and bestmate are certainly popular Vodafone features!

2degrees users outside the main centres roam on vodafone network. Therefore, it is not possible for them to offer 'on-net' pricing as such.

You're right, the council can't instruct them to do this.

My point is that the council has contracted a company to provide the meters and assocated services (including txt-a-park).  Through this contractual relationship they will be able to ask the company providing the services to start accepting 2 Degrees texts.

This will be part of a normal commercial negotiation and may or may not involve money changing hands.

If the council was smart they would have included accepting payments from 2 Degrees in the original contract.

I can't see it being as easy as you make out as it's not as simple as that. The parties would also need to setup financial arrangements for the flow of the parking fees back to where they have to go and there would be all the "backroom" setup that 2degrees would have to do for this to work and the equipment they'd need to put in to communicate with the parking machines (which probably involves licensing rights also). It isn't as simple as "text YES to 111 to donate $3 to the PM's retirement fund" - there is much, much more to it.

Having not heard of TXT-a-Park before I googled it and I see that it is a Vodafone service, so it may well be something that VF don't want to share also - a feather in their cap if you like.
