aw: Regarding TXT-a-Park, I just noticed this:

http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/premium-text

"Just one note, we're still working on getting TXT-a-park up and running. We?ll update you as soon as we've got it sorted."

Good one!

I've joined 2degrees for the mobile broadband & couldn't be happier.    The software installed easily from the USB drive.    The usage meter etc looks fantastic.    Getting good speeds 1.8 Mbps right up to about 2.5.
No $40 plus a month for a landline that I didn't use much.

I've had a few issues with 2 Degrees since recently moving over from another provider. While not show-stoppers, these have proven to be quite annoying.

The problems are:
1. An anomaly in the street address database means that my billing address is recorded on a street that is actually broken into two distinct sections designed by compass directions, but is listed simply as "X street" on their DB. Consequently mail is being delivered to the wrong section of the street. Vodafone also suffered from this same problem, but unlike 2Degrees, they ignored me when I tried to get it resolved.
2. After subscribing to 'Pay Monthly' the system failed to automatically renew my allocation of data/texts/minutes, but still automatically charged me for them.
3. Following on from above, additional charges were incurred and I am still waiting for 2 Degrees to reverse them (I'm assuming this will occur at the end of billing month)
4. In Your 2Degrees section of the website, the "Your spend since last bill" section includes the costs incurred during the last bill. To me, "since last bill" means after the last bill, not including the last one.

Having said that, 2Degrees called me back to confirm that one of my issues had been resolved. That's the first time a Telco has called me back in my capacity as a private individual, to confirm that an issue is resolved. Normally, that only happens on the corporate accounts I have looked after.

Hopefully the outstanding issues will be resolved early in the New Year.

You will probably find that #1 is an issue with whoever both VF and 2degrees have bought their address database from - more than likely NZ Post. Test this by going to the NZ Post website and throwing your address in to the Postcode finder. If it is NZ Posts database at fault, take it up with them - I had to do the same for my parents as their address in the NZ Post system was lists as an RD where it clearly wasn't - infact NZ Post had completely stuffed up maps for that part of town, largely due to the local council making illegal road name changes and probably never gazetting them.

Oh, and to even list it in a list of "issues with 2degrees" as you have is a bit off given you also had the exact same issue with VF and therefore it is more than likely neithers problem, but that of a third party.

The address database issue is not with NZ Post as I've tested that and it's completely accurate. I'm really not sure whose DB they use.

As far as you stating that it's a bit "off" to list this problem in a list of issues, I'm afraid I can't agree. This is a problem I've encountered with the service of 2Degrees, that I did not cause, and so the service provider is responsible for correcting the issue even if it lies with one of their up-stream suppliers.

To draw an analogy, if you purchased a new TV from a retailer and the TV turned out to be faulty, would you expect the retailer to resolve the issue?

To 2Degree's credit, they're looking into the issue for me.

I just wanted to say how fantastic and easy it was to port my number from Vodafone to 2degrees. Even though their website said it could only be done during business hours, I filled in the details on the website last night (Sat 01/01/2011) and woke up this morning at 2am to a text saying the switch had been done.

Only problem is filling in my address on my 'Your 2degrees'. It won't accept my apartment address. Tried putting in Flat then the number, also tried the / but it keeps saying it's invalid.
No biggie, may have to call them to update it I guess.

Quick update on the issues discussed above - All resolved, and have been allocated extra bonus minutes as compensation. 2Degrees even called me back to check that everything was resolved to my satisfaction.

Excellent work! I'm very pleased.

Yep, I had this issue when I signed up. The problem is that their website won't accept non-alphanumeric characters. All you have to do is give them a call and they will update from their end.
