Seeing as i, like most people, usually come here to b*tch and moan (mostly with with good reason!) about the abysmal service received from a phone provider or ISP (i'm looking at you slingshot...)

i thought i'd just weigh in on switching to 2degrees from VF for anyone thinking about it.

On tuesday afternoon i ordered a pay monthly sim on the 2d website, the next day it arrived by courier. so last night, i logged on with the sim, set up my account, requested my number to be carried over from VF, and went to bed.

Woke up this morning with a perfectly functioning iphone on 2degrees.

call waiting works without any pop-ups as some have mentioned here. everything else is good as gold. data, text in and out, calls to and from... nice and easy.

good work 2degrees! it couldn't be easier! and halving my monthly bill from VF is a pretty sweet outcome.

It's great, isn't it! I've just ported too and it is such a smooth process.

And they've got great, friendly, NZ based customer service!! I can see some customer service awards coming their way...

a quick tip: make sure you check your settings under settings>general>network>Cellular Data Network.
Apple stop the carrier bundle working and so you need to do some settingsmanually. all the settings can be found here http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/iphone

i just updated my firmware and apple decided to wipe it for some reason so i just had to do it myself.

Not a 2degrees issue, and Apple one to take note of

when under the 2degrees coverage canopy they will accept <blank> in the APN settings, but when you roam on to Vodafone or overseas you would suddenly find that your data wouldn't work.

I also had a seamless transition over from VF to 2Degrees and have cut my mobile bill by $20.00 a month. I did the number port about 5pm one afternoon and about 8 - 8.30 that night it was all done. So I can also say well done to 2degrees

Big thumbs up to 2Degrees also. Switched to 2D prepay after 14 yrs on contract with BellSouth/VF. Never been happy with VF, and always felt ripped off. Always felt fish hooks every step of the way.

My move to 2D happened really fast and seamlessly with no issues except for VF's failure to close my account despite calling them to ensure it happened. Months later, I received another bill from them. Switched from 2D Prepay to Pay Monthly late this evening, and within minutes it was all done. To me 2D have a "aura of fairness" about everything I've seen, and the value is real. Big hug from me, and I'm moving everyone else  I can. Funny how the big guys have started dropping their pants. Smile

I just wanted to say thumbs up 2degrees! the number porting to 2degrees was smooth as (ok not only done by 2degrees input, but still).

After getting my super duper 2Degrees number on the trademe auction when 2DG started, i had to switch to VF for 3G access. Last week it was finally time to get my number back to where it belongs, in the 2degrees network.

My bill is going down from $60 to $20 a month just for the same 1GB of data and likely more as i don't have the 'youchoose' plan anymore that i wasn't using anyways. I felt ripped off by VF with every bill i got. Thank you 2degrees for making the price more like it should be.

I signed up myself and my partner at the 2deg Newmarket shop. We both ported onAccount Vodafone numbers.

We signed up at 6:15pm on Friday. I'm sure I heard the number porting process can only happen during business hours but I was expecting the number porting to take a while as it was outside business hours leading into a weekend, but was surprised to find oury Vodafone SIMs died around 9pm - we chucked in our 2deg ones and we were ported and away!

Painless.

I should pass a departing thanks to Vodafone as I guess a painless port from them requires their support too. I'd stay, but the savings of switching are significant - sorry.

I will now go and mourn the death of my ancient 32k Vodafone SIM, old logo and everything.

great to know i'm not an isolated case! i did find on the weekend that you can't text-a-park in Auckland from 2degrees, but thats hardly a deal breaker when you're saving this much on a monthly bill!

haha you too? I ported on the Friday, and had to use TXT-a-park on Saturday for the very first time only to find out I couldn't. No coins in the car, credit card at home. Missed a friend's wedding ceremony as a result in the time to get to the Vic St council carpark and run back up the hill to the Hyatt.

while i completely understand your pain, i would have probably just risked the fine Money mouth

i understand there are serious costs in joining the txt-2-park scheme.

I had counted on the bride being "fashionably late". Unfortunately while looking fanastic, she was bang on time.

Add my voice to the "just joined and the service is good" crowd. My VF number came across last night while I was asleep and everything works nicely this morning.

I couldn't get the "Send me settings" button to do anything in the SIM toolkit but geekzone to the rescue as usual, this HTC Desire is all happy again.

Regarding TXT-a-Park, I just noticed this:

http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/premium-text

"Just one note, we're still working on getting TXT-a-park up and running. We?ll update you as soon as we've got it sorted."
