philnz847:This also happens if I use a Vodafone SIM card.

From your first post and look at the thread title.

Yes it does, therefore because it happens on both 2d and vodafone and 2d use vodafone cell sites ie, system, it would appear to be an issue associated with Vodafone.

If 2degrees just ran as an MVNO off Vodafone's network this would be entirely possible. This is not the case however and the fact they share the Vodafone network is totally unrelated in this case.

When you send or receive a message on 2degrees while roaming on Vodafone the message is still routed via 2d's network. Vodafone won't be causing the problem.

Salty has pointed out above what the issue most likely is, and I'd suggest you read his fantastic posts on international SMS interconnects to understand how complex they actually are!

You still have failed to advise when this was reported to 2degrees? (or I have missed this)

You should stop assuming things

I'll spell it out - he was obviously looking for an example sent to your Vodafone number, which is something he can help with.

It's easy enough to understand the reasons for your frustration but alienating people who are trying to help you is kinda silly (and that was the polite version).

Have you contacted JohnR via PM and gave him the information he asked? Phone numbers (sender/recipient) and times?

If you don't help here people can't help you.
