Correct 2degrees does have a national roaming agreement with Vodafone NZ but not in places 2Degrees has its own towers.

richms: port over to vodafone, the ideos has 900MHz umts so will work fine on rural vodafone network.

Hold up... when I talked to the CSR on the phone last week he assured me that 2Deg have a roaming agreement so my phone will work out there anyway.

Now you're telling me he was wrong?  They don't have an agreement that covers high value life style blocks 15 minutes from the center of Christchurch?

2Degrees customers don't roam onto Vodafone cells where they have there own cells

National roaming is not done cell by cell

2degrees have a roaming agreement with vodafone when you leave the geographic area that they cover. If you are in the area they cover but have no signal then you cant roam to vodafone.

Also, check that the phone isnt manually set on 2degrees only, and is allowed to roam. Check that its not locked on 2g or 3g only as well.

If not, and you are in a 2 degrees served area but without signal in this one location then you have nothing to do other than live with it or change network to vodafone since you have establishted that they provide service to that address.

Why would 2degrees care about the value of the property? They care about density of population and how much they can hit from a site, and what that site costs to install.

Vodafone leave out some high value places in auckland. Why do you think that paying more for your whopwhop property guarentees you the same level of service as urban people? You sound like one of those whining farmers about broadband.

I had a 2degrees customer contact me on Geekzone asking why they could not select the Vodafone NZ network in Sky TV head office in Auckland CBD cause Vodafone NZ offered better coverage in and around the building.

I use to hear that line all the time. My property is worth $X amount dollars so why don't you provide me with perfect mobile coverage.

DonGould: Ok, got an address now... 285 Birchs Road, Lincoln, Canterbury.

Still having trouble with google maps trying to work out the long and lat...

That is in the backend of nowhere

Oh come on... it's 3 minutes from a township and on flat land.

The vodafone coverage on my old Nokia 6234 would have been full bars.

I suspect the issue is that the phone just doesn't seem to switch to roaming properly.

Last week it got confused.  This week it just didn't work at all.

So when you were at the farm why did you not try your 2degrees SIM in another handset?

I do hope you sorted him out.  It's easy to do that... you just divert your number to your vf number and put your vf sim in, or easier still, use a dual sim phone.

Far to bone idle and lazy to do that...

Care factor for having the phone working was very low.

My concern was the 16 holes that had to be drilled in the new skids for the helicopter.

Seems like a very reasonable question to me.  What answer did you typically give?

I note that you used the word "use to hear" so I'm assuming you don't hear these questions any more?

Instead of bragging about what your property is worth cost you, how about tell the business what they care, which is how much you would be spending with them from that location. If you are a $10 a month just so I can use the txt plans type person, they will not give a crap, if you plan to have a whole team of people working for you from that site on $150 a month plans who must have coverage on the farm, then they might just care.

IME, the amount spent by someone on their phone is not proportional to their sense of self wealth.
