When Orcon 1st offered their own phone service. i swapped. I had major problems with my monitored alarm until they finally sorted out the problem in their network. Since then not a problem.
When my alarm was installed they put in a master filter\splitter. Means i dont need them in the jacks.
so, why can't you just put a filter on the alarm like you do on a phone when you have dsl? doesn't it just have a dialup modem that makes the same internet noises that sky decoders make?
sky decoders work fine with just a filter and can communicate with their servers just fine?
Hi, because the alarm is slightly different, it does not just sit across the line like a phone or fax/modem it disconnects the line from time to time and also passes the line though to the rest of the house wiring.
The correct wiring is to put a filter at or directly inline from the demarc, take the modem port of the filter to a dedicated socket for the DSL modem, and the voice circuit to the alarm panel, then the return from the alarm then feeds all other voice sockets in the house.
