Dratsab:johnr: Did you swap SIM cards about with your partner and see what happens?
I'm wondering if you brought the phone new or second-hand?
@johnr - would this sort of problem occur if the phone is blacklisted on the Vodafone network?
NZcat1: Its a brand new phone...Xmas presentWhere was it purchased from?![]()
NZcat1: It was purchased as a gift from 100% Appliances. Shouldn't make any difference
Skolink:NZcat1: It was purchased as a gift from 100% Appliances. Shouldn't make any difference
It can, as one dodgy place sells second-hand or refurbished phones as new.

NZcat1: Ok, So here is an update and still no joy.
Went to Masteron. No coverage. Swapped sim cards as the 2 degrees had suggested to me. Still nothing. It must be the settings on the phone. On the way home got a bit of coverage between Featherston and the beginning of the Rimutaka hill and then nothing till I got to Lower Hutt. Which is crazy because I came back along the motorway (no coverage) and yet I work at Trentham....where I have coverage every day. I guess the only thing I can do is take it into a 2 degrees shop? Anyone have any other suggestions?
Thanks for the suggestions so far
vita: When you do a network search when you loose service - what networks does it find?

Can you confirm the following -
Is Network Mode set to 'GSM/WCDMA (Auto mode) IN 'Wireless & networks > Mobile networks.
In 'Network operators' is 'Select automatically' on?
Did you manually search and select the available networks when in you lost connection in Masterton with any success?
