The web site is really puzzling. I went to change plan from $39/month to a 12 month term but nowhere during the process did it say I would get 1G of data. It always said 100MB of data plus some free phone or discount on a phone.

I think the site needs work. I guess I am going to have to call the CSR and hope they can do it manually since it's not clear at all from the site that it's going to work.

A CSR wont be able to set the term for you - they will probably refer you to one of the shops/dealers.
If I was you I would sign up for the term - The t&Cs make it clear that you will get the bonus 1gb - and also I know that it works

Just to add more confusion to the mix a colleague went into the 2D store and asked about the 1G of data. He was told he needed to sign up for a term. But he actually went online to sign up and didn't commit to a term and still got the 1G of data.

The fact that it's national data is really compelling since sometimes I do travel outside the main centres.

Disappointing that they only let you on a monthly plan when you're over 18.

I signed up to the $39 plan online last night and I can pick the no term option. Also according to the T and C as long as you sign up and activate your connection before 1st April, you can get 1gb free national data per month for 12 months.

I got an email today my Sim card is with the courier now (i am switching from voda), so I hope I can get it by Tuesday.

By the way, if you want to sign up online, try using ie8 instead of firefox 10. When I use ff10 to sign up, I got a timeout error at the very end so I need to retype a lot of things again (this time using ie8)

Switched from $29 to $39 plan this evening. Fantastic deal in my opinion, considering I was paying at least $10 a month extra for 100MB+ data and now have heaps more, plus all those extra minutes :-) Thanks 2Degrees, you're my hero.

Stoked with that. Cheers 2 degrees. Plan changed up and just wish I had seen earlier that if I changed plan I got it too. Would have been really useful last week in hospital emailing photos of new baby around and killing time while wife and baby were sleeping. Just got to wait a month for plan to renew now.

I was thinking of downgrading and then upgrading, but when I went to change my plan it states that I already have the extra allowance, but I can find no other evidence that I actually have it.

Any clues on this SaltyNZ?

I believe you will need to either sign for a term or upgrade (and downgrade). I'm 99% sure you won't automatically get the bonus without doing that (since that's not the way I designed it!) but eligibility for bonuses isn't really my area. :-)

I just got a call from a supervisor last night. I had made a query about having to sign up for a 12 month plan to get the 1G data and he was following up. He told me you didn't have to sign up for a year but you did need to be on a $39/month plan or above. Since I had downgraded my plan to $29 and was planning to purchase the $20 1G each month before I knew about this new offer, what he said he would do is monitor my account and make a diary note to call me when my current month term ends and move me back to $39. I will then get the 1G of data.

As an aside he did point out (which I knew anyway) that the 1G of data included in the plan is much better than the $20 1G since the data is national, not just in 2D area.

Good stuff 2D. More reason for staying with you guys.

Now if you could find a way to make your support number called from overseas a landline number and not a number that looks like it's a cellphone (and therefore incurs additional costs) that would be great.

It's truly great that the 1GB bonus data on the $39 and above plans is national data. I have to wonder how 2Degrees can now afford this, especially when roaming onto Vodafone's system outside the main areas.

Perhaps 2D have negotiated a better deal for data roaming? If so, maybe there will be some larger national data packs for those on Prepay soon?

I am sure they would have done some analysis and worked out that the bulk of the data use on their network in in their zone for the larger users and therefore providing national data to customers is not much expensive than providing data in their zone.

FYI I've just been upgraded to the $39/month plan after requesting it online, and I received the 1GB/month without any hassles what-so-ever. Well done 2Degrees, I'm very happy!

I was called by a CSR and told that I would get it my next billing cycle and he put in a reminder is his calendar to make sure it was actioned. Kudos for 2D for actioning any complaints but it would have been much clearer if the policy was clear on the site and the CRS's knew it.
