I have always found the 100MB of data that comes with the $39/month plan insufficient if you have smart phone.  Since I was using my phone more and more for data I decided to downgrade my plan to $29/month and then add the 1G of data for $20. While I lose 60 minutes of calls each month (I still have 160) for $10 extra a month I now have 1G of data.

Then I checked the 2D website on this page and discovered that they are now providing 1G of data for plans $39 and more.

Monthly Plans

I called the CSR and it wasn't clear they knew what was going on since they said it might only apply to new monthly accounts but nothing on that page indicates that this is a condition.

I am now waiting to hear back from a supervisor if indeed that is the fact. If they say it is then I would say the web site is wrong or misleading at best and I will not be happy.

It's a limited offer with terms and conditions here.

If, before 1 April 2012, you successfully (“Successful Activation”):

(a) sign-up as a new customer, re-sign your expiring Pay Monthly Plan or 2degrees Business Plan or transfer your existing Pay Monthly Plan or 2degrees Business Plan, to:
 (i) a Pay Monthly $39 Plan or above; or
(ii) a 2degrees Business $39 Plan or above; or

(b) upgrade the term of your existing Pay Monthly $39 Plan or above or 2degrees Business $39 Plan or above, (each Plan referred to above being an “Applicable Plan”)

you will receive 1GB of nationwide data each month(“Bonus Data”) in addition to your Applicable Plan’s data.

So you can downgrade your plan now to one that's below $39, and then change it back to the $39 plan before the 1st April to get the bonus 1GB?

I just posted this comment in the other thread before having seen this one.

My current $39 month-to-month plan makes no mention of the additional data, but if I go to 'change plan' it tells me my current plan already includes the additional data.

So it could be one or the other :)

Your current plan will not get the extra data unless you sign up for a term.

Does anyone know if you can transfer your prepay balance to a pay monthly account? I have a large prepay balance but this looks tempting.

Thats what I thought, so when I went to change the plan on line it told me the plan I was on already had the additional data.

Id expect its just an anomoly with the website not being dynamic enough to distinguish two versions of the plan. One being the plan Im currently on with its current 'goodies' the other being what I could sign up for with the bonus data.

The web site is really puzzling. I went to change plan from $39/month to a 12 month term but nowhere during the process did it say I would get 1G of data. It always said 100MB of data plus some free phone or discount on a phone.

I think the site needs work. I guess I am going to have to call the CSR and hope they can do it manually since it's not clear at all from the site that it's going to work.

Yeah they just use that amount and deduct it from your monthly bill. I signed up for a plan today as well!

That's what I have done. My bill cycle is 4 of the month. I have just downgraded my plan to $29 which should take place for the next billing cycle. Before March 4 I will upgrade the plan back to $39 and select a term at which time I hope I should get the 1G of data.  Having been very unclear about the new plans before I bought a 1G addon a few days ago so that should keep me going until March 4.

Now if SaltyNZ thinks this is not going to work tell me now!

I wouldn't know for sure, sorry. I don't come up with the marketing details, I do core network design. :-)

But I *think* that will work.

I've been on the $29 pay monthly plan for about a year and seriously considering upgrading to the $39 plan to get the 1GB monthly bonus for a year. Checking the 2D site, it seems very straight forward.

I have two questions. Will I lose the roll-over minutes I've accumulated when I switch plans, and is the 1GB bonus data zoned or nationwide data?

You keep your existing rollover minutes. The 1GB data is national data.

A CSR wont be able to set the term for you - they will probably refer you to one of the shops/dealers.
If I was you I would sign up for the term - The t&Cs make it clear that you will get the bonus 1gb - and also I know that it works

Is this also true if you "downgrade"?  I'm on the $59/mth plan because it had the 1GB free...but I really don't need the other bonuses (mins/txts).  Considering downgrading to $39/mth and happy to signup for a year.
