Just set this up on my Samsung watch, been waiting on this for years.
very simple todo, from your phone takes like 2 mins or less, just need your 2degree user/password and if your on an eligible plan its click click done
michaelmurfy:So looks like eSim for wearables has had a soft launch: https://www.2degrees.nz/mobile-plans/sidekick-plans
No Apple Watch support yet though...
<Insert 2D Mind Blown Emoji> Would love to know what the hold up was for a 10month delay from Samsung wearables going live, but I guess we'll never know.
Wow! It's only taken a couple of years and many lost customers, but they got there in the end.

Interesting that they only let you setup one Watch plan per connection (Spark allows two), as well as sharing the allowances from your plan (Spark is 40GB Endless data). Still, it’s cheaper at just $5. I trialled it on Spark for a month and found no value it - only using a few megabytes. But also interesting to see that it doesn’t appear to be included even in the top-tier 2d plans (free on the top Spark plan).

I see it more as an emergency thing. I would normally only use a few megabytes a month, but if I have an accident while running and need to summon help then it'll be worth the $5 a month I've paid up to that point.
Yup, once I figured out I could just boot up the Watch app in my iPhone, the request was submitted in like a minute it was active within 15 minutes. No more bringing the phone when I walk the dogs, hurrah!

This was first announced in Aug 2022. we are basically 2026 now. As others have said, people have moved on to Spark or One NZ. You have to wonder why it's taken so long?

A certain company that starts with A need to be across everything!

And yet many other providers have managed to pull it off in far, far less time. 2degrees are just simply behind the times.

@michaelmurfy Correct very far behind the times, Was crazy and they were very tight lipped thru the whole process
You can't really expect us to air all our dirty laundry on a public forum. That wouldn't be fair on anyone.

We are playing catchup in this space, but things are rapidly changing.
We have just finished our new Nokia HSS installation, Working on a new IMS and IN/OCS which will greatly modernize our mobile core.
Recently migrated all our billing systems into one billing system and in the process is merging the networks together.
Large amount of momentum in the business. Back to being a challenger in no time!
