Ham: Could you then terminate your converted $39 plan for $300?

I don't think so mate, it says that in the ETC Terms ref#5.

"Please note the early termination charges for the Free Smartphone Offer are higher than and replace our standard early termination charges set out at clause 24 (b) of the Pay Monthly Plan Terms and Conditions."

For me, I will stay with the $39 plan, I believe it's a good plan and it's the cheapest plan that offers free 1GB/month.

I couldnt agree more.. the $39 plan is all you would need anyway.. unless you make heaps of calls..

I have to disagree again with you mate :D even if you make heaps of calls, don't forget that you will get the 6months (on $89 plan) Carryover minutes with you for another year.

6 months on the $89 plan, you will end up with 2,160 minutes in total, are you going to use 2160 minutes in 6 months? for me I know I won't. ;)

Well then you have 2160 minutes to use in 6 months... just dont use your landline to make national calls and you can use as much as you want and even if theres more than 1000 minutes left which are unused at the end of 6 months, there is nothing to worry about coz you already got a great deal in getting a great phone and a great deal.. win win..

True :) and also don't forget that while you're using (or trying to) the minutes that were carried over from your $89 plan, you'll be saving the $39 plan's minutes to be carried over too.

There you go.. (totally forgot the $39 minutes coming in every month) another win .. win ..

cant wait for my vodafone plan to finish so I can grab this one.. hopefully these deals stay around till then..

If you want my advice, all you need is to make sure you get them before the end of July as the extra free bus and weekend free data offer page suggests. Also make sure there are phones left by asking the branches in Wellington.

I think I saw somewhere that the free smartphone deal finishes in August, but it was at the start of August - so maybe the 3rd or 5th?

LOL - thanks. I'd just read that page before posting, even scanned the fine print - but obviously not well enough!

Yes but I am talking about the combined deal with snapper, that's the first one to expire at the end of the month. This deal includes the following:
- Free bus passes during the weekend which is good for night outs Friday and Saturday nights.
- Free 1 GB of data every weekend too, to use them on the bus :)

Some people just get the 2degrees phone deal and forget or don't know about the snapper deal that comes with it.

There is a comment on that page that says it must be purchased from 2Degrees. I assume this is outdated and we can buy the 2Degrees Galaxy SIII from say harvey norm and it is still all good? Do I just have to change my sim to a special sim? (is there a charge for that).

sorry if you don't know.

Yes and some people don't live in Wellington or Auckland so Snapper is of absolutely no interest, and weekends are usually around home so on WiFi anyway - so therefore the 1gb weekends don't add anything for me either. If I was chewing through weekend data on it then maybe it would be of interest.

It's ok.

This link explains what you can/can't do with your phone using snapper, remember that the Galaxy S III is only NFC enabled phone, but the 2degrees version of it is a Touch2Pay phone.

If you need more information about this try this guide: 2degrees Touch2Pay with Snapper FAQ

There is a way that you can turn your normal SGS III into a 2degree galaxy sIII, by flashing their stock rom, but you will have to try this at your own risk. Here is the link: Download 2Degrees i9300 stock firmware. I9300MBDNZC with CSC I9300NZCALE5
