For the whole of yesterday and for the first half of today our internet wouldn't even connect. I hope that this is the end of problems.

From what I have read... they still have NZ staff for tech support and furthermore this post is just a troll (similar to the anti-christ = telecom type trolls).

Same here - the misses couldn't connect when using our slingshot gateway... but as soon as she switched over to my personal xtra one.... worked fine.

Are you sure...Listen to the people at the other end......I cant even understand them...anyway Its just an opinion....I am informing people on how they treat a normal paying customer who wanted help.......Like you are from another country.

Have you even used the Tech support from Slingshot? I have only ever talked to Kiwi accents on Tech support and they have been very good, IMOA.  Shelbflaco is just talking through his but opinion.

Oh and my speeds still going variable for me,  I hope next month will be a change.

At the risk of raising the ire of the mods.
Amazing how many of us are just off Mt. Albert road. I'm on keystone ave (cuts the corner of Dominion and Albert) 100 mtrs. from the Roskill exchange/post office, line of sight to the Woosh transponder. Gave cables the elbow a few years back, 1.6 meg down 250 kb up almost constant for torrents :-)

Just rung to Slingshot.
They are accepting the slowdown, due some upgrade. They're saying this is gonna be all over after 21st of May.
Saying I'm lucky to have at least 40 kbps of download speed. Some people do not have connection at all.
I was so happy to hear that, that forgot to ask for a refund.  :(

Our Slingshot is going well today. Just got 3.6 down. Well, I hope this keeps up. The faster the  better, especially since I am going to be updating the firmware on my N95 and don't want it to be stuffed.

LOL. I am talking first hand buddy. I have proof. Phone conversations and emails from the very KIWI? people i have had dealings with. Slingshot = MUPPETS. You will eventually change. unless you p2p then you will stay with the low cost, low budget low kiwi employment company. For Sure. you will be doing this when you talk to them when you have a problem.

You could try talking several Indian languages to them and see what reaction you get. If they reply with something in Indian then you know that they are in India.

Or they know some Indian dialects.

By the way, my http: is going slow, but my encrypted torrents seem to be going well. Another one of them days... :)

I still think that 30kBps internet is kind of fast for me, but 60kBps (512kbps) would be a nicer overall,
I mean the functionality of the web would not be much better if it was faster (apart from the extream apps).

Exactly... Just because you have a person with a different accent on the line doesn't mean they have outsourced their call center. It always pays to check and ensure you have all the details. In this case we have confirmation that their Telemarketing call center is outsourced overseas.

Personal attacks about their creditability (talking out of ones rear end) don't contribute value to discussion here and is not welcomed.

As a side note - we have had issues here trying to use our slingshot connection this morning and have had to use our XTRA connection.

512K out of 3.2MB. I have been home an hour and am still trying to download a pdf!
Our internet has been slow since around the time that this thread began. Tuesday last week I think from memory. Was really bad for a couple of days, then not as bad and variable ever since. As with others http seems much worse than other protocols & international sites are worse than local.

I've tried the alternative DNS server & it makes no difference. We've had 100KiB/s+ on torrents at times when http wouldn't work at all, couldn't even ping google. Ok this page I'm typing into has finally finished loading. I'm considering trying to set up a machine with a dial up modem as dial up is significantly better than this. I'll try to ring slingshot & complain. Would be nice if they'd refund or carry over our data to next month as we have less than a week left and most data unused! We usually use most of a 50GB block. This is the 3rd time I've tried to post this as the other 2 times it was too slow for me to register!

I wouldn't expect changing name servers would, unless you are having problems looking up hosts. All affected users should however call them and complain (get a ticket as well) about the service as its an ongoing issue.
