jillann: Thanks 2Degrees you're a lifesaver. 500 mbs was not quite stretching far enough.

Yup, time to up the prepay to $25 and favour data over minutes, or add a $19 data small minute (30?)and 1gb data combo.

Is the extra 1gb not coming through for some people? My $19 pack renewed today and I didn't receive the text or extra 1GB data. Any ideas?

A family member didn't get the extra 1GB when their $19 combo renewed this month.

I got the extra 1GB last month but noticed this month the 1GB had a $1 charge against it when I looked at the 'Value Pack' summary. Anyone else noticed this on their account too?

$1 for 1GB is a pretty good deal but thought this was free until 31/01/2015.

I think it was mentioned earlier in the thread that it wasn't a blanket "gift" but was given out to random batches to people.
I'll admit that I actually moved from Spark to 2degrees just to TRY and take advantage of the offer, however if I don't get it I'm not that torn up, I've wanted to move over, this offer gave me that gentle nudge I needed.

You should get it within 7 (working) days of the purchase date.

Please PM us your number, name and 4 digit PIN if you don't.

This happened to me as well, charged $1 for the free 1GB.... contacted twice and not a peep from 2degrees.

from last weeks usage report.

while i don't mean to sound ungrateful to 2degrees, i can't see the value add for any sane person to go onto the $29 freedom plan no contract while this is on. surely customers can save $30 over 3 months and get the same benefit if minutes usage isn't a priority? money-mouth

Just came back from a long weekend out of town and realised I forgot to post an update on this issue - after further investigation from POB, this was found to be a display issue and has been resolved.

Thanks to POB for the quick response.

Yes ... we like to have freebies visible in self-care usage and/or on the bill. The simplest way - i.e. without having to make any changes - is to have a charge, and the charge will appear on the bill. There are two ways I could do a $0.00 charge in our system. The first way is to use an actual free charge; however, the free charge would have a different name than the normal, not-free charge, and therefore we would have to make changes, which is what we're trying to avoid. The other way is to charge some amount - I chose $1 - with a 100% discount. The discount field is ignored by the downstream systems because up till now we haven't used it, and the cost field works out to $0.00, which is what we wanted.

Yay, perfect solution! Except: the system that's being used here sends all sorts of variable charges & things, and the way it works is a bit awkward. We have a 1c charge, which we do N of, to get a total charge of Nc. The downstream systems (again: we don't want to make changes) won't cope with that, so I have a lovely perl script that multiplies Nxcost (which is 1c) and puts the result in the field of the record they use to display it. Note how I forgot to include "x(1-discount%)" in that calculation. So, even though we didn't actually charge anything, it showed as if we did after the perl script munted it.

There are hidden gotchas everywhere. :-/

A bit of scripting fun, always fun to see what holds things together.

Now can you fix 2degreesworld from being so dodge? :P The amount of times i've had whatever script it is that runs every sunday morning break an account fix that the support team put in place the week prior - i think 4 times now? Apparently an external vendor built it.

Just to clarify, if I was to switch to 2 Degrees from Vodafone this month and get a $19 pack before the 31st would I get this free 1GB? Tempting if so.

Not that I have heard of. They are now doing carryover, but I usually use up the 500mb before the end of the month anyway. Would be interested in an extra 1GB for the same $19. Just a bit unsure whether the "selected bunch of customers" means just some receive the advert and all get the bonus, or only the selected bunch get the bonus.

Or join Skinny and get 1gb extra for 3 months, and carryover data should be here before the 20 jan
