Psilan: Just an FYI: Changing from Snap VDSL naked to a new 2Degrees VDSL naked plan incurs a connection fee. Madness.

what madness! I was a click away from changing our Snap ADSL 50GB naked to a new 2Degrees VDSL 80GB plan that I assume will also incur said fee?. How much is it btw?

$249 I think? It's on their website.
You can get around the connection fee by signing a new contract term.

i believe connection fee is $99. Modem is $149. Break fee for contracts is $249.

However i imagine if you talk to them, they wont charge you a connection fee if you're already a customer - thats the reasonable thing to do anyway.

Wow I have been a customer for over 2 years and think they should simply upgrade everyone in the same boat for free that would be the logical thing to do seeing as its the same price as I am currently paying but 30 less gigs so we should be rewarded for being dedicated customers

I did call and speak to them. They couldn't tell me what the connection fee was for. But the only way to not pay it was to lock in another 12 months.

I logged a call on the website afterwards to try pursue further.

Ok WTF? After trying three times this morning to sign up to the new plans I had a call earlier in the day from 2degrees to sign up. We tried on the phone and failed as well.

Have left it to this evening and tried again. Now I get this stupid error.
Apparently I have more than one phone line with Snap. Pretty sure I don't!

What a pain. Now I have to ring up and talk to someone! #fail

I rang today to increase my plan from 200/20 to 200/200 and was told the plans had changed.

I am being put onto 200/200 unlimited for $134.00 per month, free 7490 fritzbox (not sure what I am going to with it), 12 month plan, and a static IP.

The $10 discount for being a 2D customer is awesome...

I can't quite believe they are doing the 7490 as the free modem, given that this was the top tier Snap offering and was only available for an extra fee on top of a two year contract...

Wow! Thats exactly what I want. Did you mention anything special when you rang up? I just rang up and couldn't even get through. "We're experiencing technical difficulties"

My old special plan did not get grandfathered, I have been on naked vdsl 70/10mbit 200GB for 80$ for nearly 3 years. Now I only get 100GB.

If I switch plans to Unlimited get to keep my 70/10mbit vdsl speed or have to pay extra.

I also noticed a 100GB drop in my cap, but I called them and the rep indicated that it was due to my 24-month contract having lapsed. I'm considering moving to unlimited but I have 2 concerns that I'd like spelled out:

1) Has 2degrees indicated that unlimited data will not be throttled or traffic-shaped?
2) Does 2degrees actually intend to charge a new connection fee for existing Snap customers? I find it difficult to believe...

1: Website states no shaping on any unlimited plan.
2: Yes they do (support call confirmed, CSR could not advise what this connection fee actually paid for since I was already connected). I have a support case to try get around this and will update when they respond.

The old snap website had lots of useful info, like tell you what the plans actually are comprised of.

2D says up to 30mbps, of what? Up? down? sideways? but you get a TV service that runs out shortly, checking the link to see if UFB is available at my house, says no.....hmmm funny thats all I have available and I'm with snap..err..2Degrees

For a communication company they really have difficulty with their circular referencing website that says not alot about their actual service. But is that their aim?

As a current Snap...2Degrees customer and despite been sent some sort of take over email I still don't know what they offer.

Can't say I'm impressed so far, if I was looking for a service provider i would not choose this based upon what I can see or find.

[Mod Edit - Company name corrected. As per the FUG, please spell company names correctly.]

ET: "Maybe; you have some freewill, but you chose your path by arrangement"

Me "That sounds like a program with no freewill?"

ET: "We will catch up when you end this cycle"

Me: "Sounds like a 'KPI'!"

ET: "Did you read the terms and conditions?"

To be fair snap have just been bought out by 2degrees and they've rushed some products to market, completely agree they could do a better job with the info.. but I can kinda also see why speed of getting stuff available is more important in such a cut throat market...

Anyway, my question was does anyone know whether these broadband packages include a phone line? As others are rightly pointing out it's not very clear from the fairly brief details exactly what is included in each package. Question would be, whether phone line is included, what are the calling rates, and whether local area code calls are free? thanks

If they wanted speed and impact,  they could have just done this

1) change colour scheme and images on existing Snap site to 2Degrees
2) dropped pricing on all snap plans by ~$10-20
