One logging message is
no upstream servers configured
I am not sure why that is...

Those are the things I would try in addition to making sure cables are physically connected correctly between the D-Link and the Chorus ONT.
I'm not too familiar with this syslog format of logging, sorry.
Might be worth giving D-Link help desk a call to confirm the configuration of this router for New Zealand UFB otherwise ask for a RMA number to return it.
I think the number is 0800 900 900.
tent: you need to up date it's firmware for the tipan to v15 because the New Zealand
details are added into the set up wizard

Too late... already returned it.. will buy ASUS instead.
I guess we should have ask if you'd done that - checking for latest firmware is the first thing to do for any piece of hardware.

I actually checked a few times and it didn't prompt me for the latest firmware. I was so frustrated so didn't bother to download it from their website.
I actually phoned the d link support twice, they didn't even ask me to do that over the phone.
Overall, I really appreciate all your help and suggestions. This forum is extremely useful. At least this post will provide help to others if they have similar issue.
