Without wanting to sound grumpy, none of these reports are actually making their way to us with any details. Just vague complaints that it's slow. Seriously: we've looked at the ticket queues and so far we've come up with ONE complaint that could be investigated, and anecdotes in this thread aside, the stats aren't telling us there is a problem. That doesn't mean there isn't one. But it does mean we need detailed info. If we're going just by anecdotes, then everything is fine because I have the worst coverage in the world at my place and I haven't had any issues with SMS.

Hi all

Texts can fail for a number of reasons, not just the network. Therefore as SaltyNZ says without examples our teams cannot get to the root cause.

If anyone has examples of delayed or missing texts please can you PM us with the following details -

The senders number (A number)

The recipient (B number)

Time sent -

Time received -

Location of sender and recipient at time of sending (if possible)

What signal is showing on the phone (bar strength and if it's E, H, H+, 4G etc)

Phone make, model, OS and if it was bought from another network (Spark, Skinny etc)

Whether it's all texts, some and when the issue started.

Many thanks

^POB

Also - is it only texts, or do you think you may be missing voice calls as well? Has anything else just happened when the text arrives (e.g. did you just receive a voice call and then everything came through)? Are you sure the phone actually sent the message, or did it sit in the phone's outbox for some time before it was actually sent (to sort out problems that are actually issues with sending from problems with receiving)?

In my case txt's WERE sent ok and did not sit waiting to be sent to me.

Sending texts from my phone works and if a text is waiting for me it may arrive an hour after the voice call or a later sent / received txt.

Txts appear to go fine, its just the recipient who has to wait around for it. I hardly get calls so not sure on that side of things.

Thing is, we dont always realise the txts are late until you talk to the sender.......

Guys - what POB and Salty are asking for is precise information on these slow texts as they will be wanting to find the logs for those exact messages within their systems so that they can trace their movement as it seems not to be an issue in general for all users, only some.

Ambiguos information won't cut it for what they want to do.

Pm sent, unfortunately I could only find one example but it's definately an ongoing occassional problem for a long time.

I gave three examples, with as much detail as I could remember. The only thing that came out of it was that my phone may have delayed the arrival of messages, which seems ludicrous for messages that I send, though is possible for messages I receive. I was advised to clear the cache and data. I did so but have had other delays since. I also gave a detailed example of a text that took an exceptionally long time to send, despite a full strength signal. I didn't receive any response to that.

One thing that 2degreees mentioned was that they had my number being used on a phone that I have never had nor one that I've had access to (though I wasn't sure about that, at first). So maybe their systems aren't working properly.

I'll try to remember to send info about a future delay but I don't always have access to this forum at the time it happens, so I often forget to post details.

Just had another text delayed by an hour. Have sent a message with the details to 2degreesCare.

Bugger...you mean it's not fixed yet.

I'll have to keep using this "Suzuki Alto" (Alcatel One Touch Pixie) of a phone longer :-(

Well, as I said, the stats aren't really showing any trouble so if there's a problem, it's a subtle one. If it was something we could find and fix in 5 minutes this thread wouldn't exist. :-) So, we will look, I promise.

Any update?

It's still broken for me!

I put the SIM back in this morning.

Txt sent from 2D to me took an hour and a half for a 3km trip this morning.

If as you say - "the stats aren't really showing any trouble so if there's a problem, it's a subtle one" - I note the "IF" in your comment.

Those affected by it like me must be dreaming it is happening?

I got a reply from 2degreesCare after my last report but only asking for extra info. I provided that info but my message has not been read yet, nearly 5 days after I sent it. I guess they aren't really taking it seriously.

The only ones we've had sufficient info to track down so far are to Optus Australia numbers that all appear to be in the same IMSI range and are likely to be false ones generated by their SMS firewall, which is actively blocking them for some reason. In other words, nothing to do with the issues you are experiencing, and probably correct.
