freitasm: Yes I understand that but the highlighted text is repeated.

Gotcha! That will be fixed in the next release. :)

Can't complain about the free data, but it's a bit disappointing that there are none at all in Wellington CBD. You have to go into the surrounding hilly suburbs. Meanwhile Lower Hutt CBD has 3 right by each other and Porirua CBD has 2 right by each other.

True that. I did take it around in my morning walk (I hop off bus at Thordon Quay flyover and walk 25 minutes to Lambton Quay). All the way from Johnsonville to Thorndon Quay there was one marker, on the way to Ngaio (what looks like a park). No markers at all on Thorndon Quay, Lambton Quay, Willis St. This is a huge area that is basically empty - in Wellington.

There's one in the Johnsonville Mall, but since I couldn't see anything while walking around I completely forgot about the app - even though I had lunch at the mall today and could've easily collected it. So the idea is there, but it's not compelling enough as it is due to the very disperse distribution.

PaulBags: Rooted will be it - HTC one M7 w/ ARHD93. Not mentioned anywhere in the terms though.

You should first check you've updated to the latest software version for your device. The App will not work on Jailbroken or Rooted phones.

Is there any indication the App is "Zero rated" or am I actually using Data to 'hunt' data? (especially as it wants to be "always on" in the background)

@PhantomNVD, I had a look at the internet traffic to/from the app and it looks to transfer about 500kb of JSON data from the 2degreesmobile.co.nz domain the first time you open the app, but not again unless you close the background process. (e.g. just pressing the home button will leave it open in the background)

Or I guess when they update the data points list.

However since it uses google maps for its maps this traffic may be counted, but it shouldn't use much data since they're very basic maps.

I just used a friends phone which is out of data and he's able to visit the 2degrees site still, so looks like it doesn't use your data. (except for the maps)

Note, this was tested from the Android app, the iPhone app may work differently.

Yes I have the same question. Actually wondering if you use up more data using the app then you actually get. If they made the data to use the app free then it would be super awesome! (*downloading the app at the moment)

I answered this question just before your post, though obviously would be nice to hear the official word from 2degrees.

Also remember that you get 100MB the first time you get the app, (as part of the intro tutorial) this 100mb should easily cover any Google maps traffic this app uses. As my previous post explains, the data point data (about 500kb) is Zero rated since it comes from the 2degrees domain.

Just downloaded the app. No pin in my living room like others have mentioned, but a lot of them in my local area are located in the same spot as Pokestops, so I can collect them when I go Pokehunting. Because I am on a Pay Monthly plan, my free data will be carry over data. But is there a carry over limit? I usually sit somewhere between 10GB and 12GB on hand, and I was under the impression that I couldn't go over 12GB in total.

Can I collect for other people? I'm not on 2D (work phone), but Daughter in Law is.

I'd say you can since the only linking to a 2degrees account that I can see is when it asks you what your phone number is, just put in your Daughter in Laws, then she'll get surprise texts from 2degrees saying she's got data whenever you spin a data point.

I'm 250GB better off so far. Cool promo. Shame the app is so buggy, but at least it's working for me.
