Bring back SNAP!

It may only be $2 extra, but it's the principle espy since I am using a debit card to pay.
Looking through the old SNAP interface that 2D still use, you HAVE to have a credit/debit card setup on your account for payment

Sadly I am locked in with 2D until July ...

yeah I'm locked in too. The $55 month a deal was pretty good, second year not so much.

Once thats up I'll just move to bigpipe. Its really not hard moving ISPs aslong as your email isnt tied to it. I've switched probably 5 times in the last 4 years... Snap -> Unlimited -> BigPipe -> Unlimited -> 2Degrees.

Would CC users be happy with, Instead of adding a credit fee, a flat price is offered. Then a discount is given to those who use other methods. Eftpos, Direct credit, Cash.

Eg instead PB Tech saying 2.5% Credit Fee, Say 2.5% discount eftpos , cash internet banking.

Ok, I am slightly incorrect

You can have a direct debit setup via the profile pages rather than a credit card. However reading the terms and conditions of having this setup is even more scary than being pinged with an extra $2 fee every month

Still not at all happy and it is very sad to see what was a promising upstart in the telco world become just like the rest of them

Come July I will be keeping my options wide open for changing providers.

I'm with you on this. I was with Snap! and when 2degrees took over and wanted to push me into a contract, I went over to BigPipe. It's the contracts that annoy be because when things like this pop up, you can't do much about it (except for paying a fee for breaking the contract of course)

Cash and eftpos is essentially free, as they tend to be fixed costs, no matter what the amount that is paid. eg Staff costs, and terminal fee.s Credit cards however have a scaled fee based on how much is paid. So I can see the logic with it.

However it is really a price increase for those people paying by that method of payment. IMO it is somewhat similar to companies downsizing their packets of foods, but keeping the same price.

Wouldn't the credit card fee costs be part of the contract 2D has with the credit card companies, and being the size they are you would expect them to have a good contract with low fees. It is just a money grab.

The vast majority of customers in any retail outlet pay by card, not cash. EFTPOS is a flat rate for all transactions and a small monthly cost to charges are basically as close to zero as you can get.

You would think they would get a good deal. But the fact is that many Government departments also charge CC fees, and they would likely have just as large a customer base. But the fee is still % based, so for very large amounts, the fee for that one transaction could be quite high. eg a 3% charge on a $1000 bill is $30. Where if they paid by eftpos, the cost is cents.

But on the flipside, you do wonder why companies would want to annoy good paying customers, as it gives them the opportunity to pause and look what other deals are in the market.

Have just spent the last hour doing that. I've been considering moving from 2D for a while and this was the push I needed to check out the deals on offer. Looks like we'll be switching to Spark.

I just had a read of their terms and conditions. I think it is a material change which means that if you have a fixed term contract they will either have to waive the fee or let you cancel with no termination fees. Could be a bit of an own goal?

I would love that, but I highly doubt it.
