i really really really hate it when companies do this. The easiest way to pay anything these days are with credit cards. Charging a fee for this as a customer really pisses me off.

Sure at the end of the day its only a couple of bucks, but its the principal. No other ISP I know of charges a CC fee (I'm sure they might be some, please speak out if they do)

2degrees is committed to providing customers great value but due to ongoing third party banking and transactional fees we will be introducing a Card Payment Fee for all Credit and Debit card payments made against your 2degrees Broadband bill from 8 March 2017.

and there only options are "Direct Credit" or "Credit Card", no way to manually transfer the monthly

not true , you can do internet banking / automatic payments on your accounts . I do, They hate it but will let you do it

You can still pay them so long as it goes in at least 2 working days before the credit card was due to be paid. I will just change them to my broken-ass loaded card so they never sucessfully charge it so I dont have to pay this BS fee. Shame I want to have my 2 connections with different ISPs so skinnys new offering on the same network as bigpipe is no good, but for anyone else wanting to move off them for this BS fee then skinny would probably be a good option to look if not just bigpipe directly.

how? the only payment options I can find are CC or direct debit. Theres no banking details on any of my invoices or anywhere in the webportal that I can see.

They do for one off payments. They don't for automatic payments set up against a credit card.

I wonder how they can justify a charge against debit cards where interchange rates are pretty much non existent?

I also wonder if they'll pledge to cut their rates once interchange is slashed in NZ later this year and their costs of processing credit cards are slashed?

thanks, still rather pay with CC since I could just do it from one place. But yeah, never going to set up a direct debit.....

Is post shop an option for broadband ones? I know people pay their mobile ones there since I get stuck behind them when getting my mail.

Do they say anywhere how much the fee is going to be? I've had a look around their site and can't find any details about it (possibly due to poor Google-fu on my part). I was looking at switching my broadband to them this week but depending on how much extra this adds to the cost it might change that decision.

Storm in a teacup. It costs them more to accept credit cards, so they charge more. Seems totally fair to me. You can choose the convenience of credit card and pay a little extra, or you can use one of the other payment methods and pay less.
