HI guys

for myself, I dont care I have been paying two ISPs for this month. it is not costing anyone a fortune anyway.

however I believe this 30 days cancellation is not fair and trap for people switching.

yes, I might be not smart enough to do my research.

yes, I should not bindly follow what the saless from NEW ISP told me to.

but I believe the world should not like this.

I just hope my post can help some avoid this trap or even some ISPs can change this stupid 30 days cancellation policy.

I recently did just this moving from BigPipe to 2degrees. Didn't get another bill from BigPipe after this.

I am going to do exactly what you just did.

So I am set up.....

What the OP did is posted above - they signed up with a new RSP and the old one told them not to contact the old RSP. Service was connected by new RSP and they then contacted the old RSP and were told they had a 30 day notice period.

This is not the process to follow if you don't want to be charged, but it's what the OP did and therefore they've been stung.

New ISP explicitly told me Not to contact slingshot for disconnection until I have switched to them.

And I just followed what they told me thinking I might be double charged for 1 or 2 weeks. That is OK for me.

Actually I don't care now,

But I strongly believe this 30 days notification is unfair policy for customers like us.

If this 30 days cancellation policy is industry standard now, it is not against slingshot anymore.

It is not fair to everybody.

And again, it is totally fair and has been a standard for almost as long as I can remember - ISP's need to pay their suppliers. Who was this ISP that told you?

I am fine to pay my price this time.

Why it is fair taking 5 days to join and 30 days to cancel?

I am not complaining any ISP now.

This 30 days cancellation rule is not fair as general.

Ok. Well since this is going around in circles and you're not agreeing with anyone I'm locking this.

The 30 day policy is there for a reason as stated by many users (including myself).

Remember also, your new ISP will likely have the same policy. Ensure you read and understand it.
