Well so far I haven't had an issue on 12.1 b4.

Did my usual drop off daughter and wife routine this morning then returned home. Someone called a few minutes ago and came through fine, will see how the rest of the day goes.

It's handy having a 2talk account and using X-Lite on my Mac to periodically call myself to test things are still working.

Spoke too soon.

Well I've had enough troubleshooting, no response from 2degrees either after 2 days

@dfnt Have you logged an official fault ticket via the call centre and got an fault ticket number noted down?

And are you using Beta versions of iOS?

John

In this case I would call and get an official ticket logged and email the person you are talking to on the phone so that information can be added to the ticket so it can passed to the correct technology team in 2degrees

Going via email is going to slow it down getting an official fault ticket logged

May be the problem if running a Beta iOS build. I'm on 12.01 (stable).

I installed the beta firmware only yesterday as part of testing, given the XS Max is new and there's issues with the new antenna design - but that mainly affects cellular not wifi anyway. Not that there are any documented fixes for wifi or cellular in the 12.1 betas it doesn't hurt to try.

Otherwise I was running 12.0.1 when I switched to 2degrees

However, now I've confirmed there's no difference with 12.1 I can factory reset the phone and restore it back to 12.0.1 which kills two birds with one stone

I'll see what comes of the email, I wasn't expecting instant response via that medium anyway so that's ok

So the email team will read the email and not understand it and come back to you for more information

I will call them, once my phone is finished restoring back to 12.0.1

To my uneducated eye, it seems that there's a disconnect between 2degrees and my phone. My phone is still connected to the ipsec tunnel, or it thinks it is, based on the packet capture and the fact it still says "2degreess WiFi Calling" but perhaps on 2degrees end it thinks the session has ended or non existent.

So when people ring, it's either engaged or that recorded message you get when the number isn't connected

I don't know how it works on 2degrees end so again, that's a completely uneducated guess based on what I'm seeing

Having a packet capture is awesome and will help 2d isolate the issue

It was a live capture, as the problem is intermittent, I can't capture to a file on the EdgeRouter as it'd run out of space -_-

I think I read somewhere I can do a capture to a remote wireshark instance so I'll look into that option

Ok, got packet capture demonstrating:

1) a failed call from 2talk -> my #

2) from my phone -> 2talk taking 30+ seconds to establish a call and ring 2talk

3) a failed call from 2talk -> my # again

This was after a factory reset of the iPhone so I'm fairly confident that it isn't the issue, unless its a hardware fault.

As a last ditch attempt, I've replaced the EdgeRouter 4 with a FritzBox 7490 to see if its my router causing the problem

FritzBox made 0 difference, issue persists

Phoned up 2degrees, they asked me to email them through 4 examples of the issue happening (I had 5) which their escalation team would use to raise a service request to look into the issue

Hopefully something comes of it
