Has anyone actually made a VoLTE call with 2degrees? If so what was the sound qual like?

While I've found 2degrees great the only thing I would knock them on is sound quality.

It won't be certified until 2degrees rollout VoLTE on their own sites and Apple then tests / certifies.

Hi everyone,

Our website has just been migrating to some new pages as you may have noticed. S20, as well as other more recent devices, should be on this list. This new page just hasn't finished being updated yet. Hope this helps!

This is now showing the newer models - S20 FE, iPhone 12 etc (still shows last updated in July at the bottom of the page though for some reason).

My other half has just got a iPhone 12 Pro Max on 2degrees and I am yet to see her make a call where it doesn’t switch back to 3G, I made sure she has the VoLTE switch on. Doesn’t stay on 4G here in Tauranga or at any stage on our recent drive through Auckland on the way up to Warkworth.

I really feel like the ball is been dropped with VOLTE on 2degrees. Both Vodafone and Spark support iPhone 6 Plus and above on every tower it seems, but 2degrees doesn’t... quite disappointing for a network that has good tech support and great morals.

I am looking at getting a iPhone 12 and thinking about porting to Skinny or Vodafone so I get VOLTE and 5G when it hits Tauranga

I'm wondering if the next iOS update will remove that note saying 2degrees is not certified for VoLTE

VoLTE is not yet enabled nationwide.

Speaking as someone who lives in Warkworth, there are two places where the phone will sometimes briefly drop back to 3G - about halfway between Albany and Silverdale, and in the middle of the toll road between Orewa and the tunnels. That said, unless you're trying to watch a 4K video on your phone at the time it should not cause you any major difficulties. I stream internet radio on the way to and from work quite regularly.

iPad Pro 11" + iPhone 15 Pro Max + 2degrees 4tw!

These comments are my own and do not represent the opinions of 2degrees.

VoLTE is only live on RCG sites currently for 2degrees customers. I saw somewhere that 100% it'll be going live on their own sites throughout 2021 as they want it there for 5G launch. Tobe fair though, switching back to 3G during a call is only really going to negatively impact you with a small range of use cases (eg. WiFi hotspoting to a laptop to watch 4K content).

Only if at that point they're certified ;)

This page has been updated and to me it looks like VoLTE is coming in April: Phones capable of WiFi Calling and HD Mobile Calling | 2degrees

I find it interesting they say the Galaxy S8 won't support it, I've got one as my spare phone with Spark Firmware on it and it has an option to enable VoLTE

FYI, currently only for Android. iPhones are not enabled yet and won't work.

Did you do any test calls to Spark or Vodafone and if so did the qual call stay in HD?
