Just to add to the chorus, I've also been having these issues for a few months.

2D Gigabit, Southland, static IP, ISP DNS, standard Fritzbox. Happens on phone, TV, and PC.

Videos will buffer often. Sometimes refreshing will help, sometimes not. Livestreams aren't much fun.

I'm also having issues with various Google services on 2degrees as of the last week or so. Google Maps is heinously slow at times. Yesterday it took more than 20 seconds to load Street View, and the general map rendering is significantly slower than usual while it waits on downloading things.

YouTube is also much slower than usual to load. It takes over 8 seconds for everything to show on the page for me. It's pretty much exactly like what aseni demonstrated:

This is YouTube loading BTW...

Apologies, my post should say I’ve been having the problems for weeks, not months.

Yep, I've also started noticing this in the last few weeks. I've had periods where I cannot sustain a 1080p stream.

Setup:

2Degrees gigabit fibre(Auckland North Shore)

pfsense

cat6 cabling throughout

unifi switches and APs

As soon as I switch on an NZ-based VPN this goes away, so it seems to be an issue at 2D, either peering or with their cache devices.

Alternatively, switching off 2D DNS to something else(Cloudflare in my case) made a noticeable impact in speed.

Youtube, Google Maps, Google Photos, Google Drive and Google Street View all have issues the last few weeks.

2degrees 1000/500mbit fiber,  Static IP,  ISP DNS.

ALL devices on network are affected as are all browsers on said devices.

Devices taken elsewhere and connected to another ISP have no issues.

Linux: Has anyone logged an official fault ticket with 2degrees?

It's been pretty bad at points here tonight. I just tweeted at them, and I'm about to give them a ring too.

Minor update: Doesn't sound like they've received many reports about this. Might be worth getting in touch with them if you're still affected by this.

2d Gig Fibre in Dunedin, no issues here, been watching mostly 4K content all evening/day without a problem.

Do we have any updates on this from 2degrees? It's really noticeable now, it never used to be like this and nothing has changed from my side. I changed my DNS servers also to no avail :(

Just thought I'd add it looks like Google Drive is affected too.

Google Drive (IPv6 + IPv4): 50kb/sec.
Google Drive behind NZ VPN: 80MB/sec.

It got better for a short while after my recent post, and then since last night it's been the worst it's been yet.

I had a Chrome update today that took an incredibly long time to download. YouTube thumbnails are also loading at a historically bad rate. It doesn't feel like I'm on a fibre connection at all.

I have sent through a support request via the website, as this seems to be happening more and more now (Or at least I'm noticing it more often).
