liquidcore: Out of interest, do you folks who have managed to grab awesome deals also have mobile plans with 2d?

I do have a mobile with 2Deg. Received my 1st invoice after changing over earlier this week. 2Deg are charging me 🙀 $106 - $10. Let's see what the CSR has to say tomorrow.

I'm about 4 months now with 2D coming from Skinny. Fritzbox is awesome is the occasional no internet over wifi normal? I experienced it a few times. I toggled my device's wifi on-off and its all good.

However, last Friday I completely lost WLAN like there's no wifi coverage at all. Over LAN it didn't have any problem. So I did a few power cycle still no effect until I went on my pc and saw there's an update of the latest OS downloaded it restarted then viola back to normal operations.

Have a look at this thread. In short, manually set your 5GHz wireless channel to anything below 52 (ie 51 or less). Fritzbox website. If your problem is with 2.4GHz, then not sure. If you have the 2.4 and 5GHz bands with the same SSID make them separate for a bit to check this out. Seemed to work for me.

It's not supposed to be normal. 😡 It happens on our network as well. Happens on wired & wireless connections. I don't use the FRITZ!Box Wi-Fi. No dropped connection on the FRITZ!Box. By the time you get an answer on the support line, the problem has resolved itself & no troubleshooting is possible.

Make sure you talk to the retention team, the regular call centre folk don’t have bargaining power I don’t think. I didn’t argue when they didn’t offer Prime but if Prime mattered to me I would have asked. The retention team fellow was very nice. Kevin. I've been a customer there forever and I'm pretty sure I'm paid up a bit in advance, never late with a payment and almost never require contact so I'm probably considered a very useful customer haha. 100/20 plan with credit bonus for 12 month contract. I'm not usually a fan of term contracts but Hubby is retiring this year so I'm looking for ways to cut costs. Every bit counts.

jonathan18: Slow wait time this morning, and the CSR wasn’t keen on putting me through to retention but did offer me either 900/400 for $90 a month or 100/20 for $75.

I spent 55 minutes on hold this morning (only for it to be answered right in the middle of making the mid-morning espresso!), and this time got put through to the retention team.

Well worth the wait as they were quite happy to offer the same prices as above (I've stuck with 900/400) but also include the $150 credit and Amazon Prime (with a free static IP address continuing for the rest of its 12 month period).  It does look like others have managed to get this at $80 a month, but I didn't try them on the price as I'm more than happy with the offer, plus this means no need to look at switching IPs to get a better deal.

A pity their wait times are so bad (and this was the case pre-lockdown, so that's not the cause), and hopefully not a sign of another deterioration in call centre experience - I recall the great service under Snap went down badly when they were bought out by 2D, but this seemed to have bounced back. Then again, other than for contract queries I've had no reason to call them for support and long may that continue!

@jonathan18 have you had the  $150 credit and Amazon Prime before?

@Linux: yep, looking back at my bills in May 2019 I received $200 credit and Prime for 12 months when we rejoined 2D after being with BP for three years.

I'm surprised they offered these 'new customer' bonuses to an existing customer, but given how others on this thread have been successful I thought it was worth a go...

Wonder if it's worth sticking with 2degrees, thanks for the tips earlier in the thread. Let's see if I do ever get to use them (as will be trying to sign up to the frontliner deal w/ another company)

I just renewed last night for another 12 months for $80 + Prime for another 12 months + free static

No mention about the account credit but I'm ok with that.

one thing the CSR did say was that they are doing a review on static IP's in next few months and it might start being charged.

We will see what happens

Also note those signing up for contracts now, might have to wait for any upgrades in the fibre plans to roll through (i.e. where Chorus are moving 100Mbit to 300Mbit etc). Not saying this is what 2degrees will do, but they may..

Disappointing to hear static IP addressing may change.

I and many others are likely to drop to the cheaper 300Mbit plans to offset the additional cost, given the new upload speed is probably fine for most use cases.

Do you also have a pay monthly 2D mobile to get that price, and was your plan 100/20 or Gigabit?

I'm not overly familiar with exactly how 2d Consumer works now days but I'm reasonably confident in saying that you're contracted to keeping a service, so being contracted won't impact your ability upgrade your service.
