Does the trade in boost also apply when purchasing at 12 months? As the T&C's only mention that you can't cancel within 12 months

So if I have a spare Samsung s8+
I should be able to get:
$102 phone value + $600 Boost = $702
$60 plan (half price first six months) = $540
($180*12) + $29 = $2189 for iPhone 14 pro max 128gb

So in total at 12 months it should be $2027 in total, which seems a bit too cheap since I would be getting 12 months of the plan and decent savings on the phone as well.

I'm wondering if 12 months is allowed since these plans generally end up costing significantly more than buying the phone outright, however at 12 months it doesn't.

Can anyone confirm that this is possible? as I can't seem to find anything that says that it's not possible within the T&C's.

After the 12 months is over, I would switch back to my Kogan large plan which is $165 yearly for 15GB data + unlimited texts/calls assuming they have the same deal around black Friday next year and as long as 2degrees doesn't lock the iPhone?

Also, what condition do they want the tradein phone in, I just noticed mine has the battery bulging and that a replacement battery is $10 on trademe. Would they accept the phone with a bulging battery (that happens to hold a charge fine) or would I have to bother replacing it myself?

How did you get a trade in boost of $702 ? I am getting $588 for my S20.

Pre-orders will of course be prioritized and the those ordered first will be sent out first. Some customers have already begun to receive their orders, so hopefully yours will be with you soon. Sorry for the hassle and if you have any questions your best bet is to get in touch with the Customer Care team by DMing us on Twitter or Facebook, or by calling 0800 022 022.

Cheers,

Sarah

Appreciate the update Sarah. So I can assume that just because my order hasn't been sent yet, it doesn't mean that it won't be happening from the first batch and sent early next week?

Hey all,

I've heard back from the team and looks like there was a minor processing issue with some pre-orders but this was quickly resolved and the affected orders shouldn't have any issue being fulfilled. Updated ETAs should be with all customers in the next few days.

The team has also let me know that iPhone 14 pre-orders and sales were very popular, as is usually the case with any apple launch, so they've been working round the clock on managing the orders and providing an updated ETA for customers.

The iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max in Deep Purple and Black are in the highest demand, so if colour isn't an issue for you and your order hasn't been processed, it may be worth getting in touch with the Customer Care team and asking if you can change to another colour.

@SarahRykers

I really hope the pre-orders are still prioritised, above in this thread and on Facebook customers are commenting they've been informed they have to wait up to 8 weeks as they're now at the back of the queue despite ordering first thing on the 10th of September.

Why are customers being told different stories?

What is currently being done to fix this?

Thanks

Yes, the boost does apply when paying the phone off over 12 months.

Here's what my daughter did:

  • Paid $900 cash as a deposit.
  • Traded in a Note 20 Ultra for $458
  • Trade-in boost of $600

She got the iPhone 14 Pro (256Gb) @ $2199.

So now she only has to $241 left to pay on the phone over 12 months.

Where did you see reference to terms suggesting you can’t cancel within 12 months? I may have missed this.

I just ordered a replacement battery for my s8+ and trading it in will net me $702 which overall makes the iPhone cost significantly less compared to MSRP when purchasing on a 12-month contract, especially considering that I wouldn't get much when selling the s8+ on TradeMe.

Hopefully, 2degrees doesn't pull something as I generally never purchase from carriers due to it always working in their favour, and I'm assuming this specific contract is 2degrees betting that the customer will stay on their plan after the 12 months.

Yeah I think today and tomorrow will tell us what is going on, I ordered 14 minutes after the pre-order went live. I got my email immediately advising order was accepted and to wait for tracking details. Nothing since. I would be amazed if they had sold out of the model I ordered in 14 minutes. It's hard to know what is really happening, hopefully what Sarah has advised will play out and those that ordered early will start to receive their tracking numbers.

So an update on my order from the conversation I had with 2D this morning:

  1. The next shipment with my model is apparently scheduled for next Monday
  2. My order placed on the 10th Sept missed that shipment allocation
  3. Best estimate for the likely ship time is 4 weeks or so

As long as it arrives with enough time for me to send my trade-in phone in, it would be great.

I mean almost everyone ordering is locking themselves to 2deg for at least 12 months to use this promo, in their best interest to get it in our hands.

I called for a update and got very little information.. It will turn up when it turns up was the gist, no estimate or anything for the 14pro 256gb. Wife is going to skin me as this was supposed to be her birthday present before we go on a trip to Aus in about 3 weeks.

I have seen a few mentions in this post about the trade in window expiring but cant find any reference to it myself on the website, can anyone point me in that direction? Phone rep wasn't able to give me an answer on that either.

If this become anymore painful I think I will end up cancelling, even if it costs me, and take my internet service elsewhere too. I understand not wanting to give out bad information but nothing is just as painful.

Surely it is a basic requirement of any retail operation to know how much stock you have on hand and how many pre-orders you can fill alongside how much stock you can get and when you can supply it to your customers. Without that information it just causes a lot of frustration and wasted time for everyone, 2Degree's CSR's included. From the responses various customers have got from calling 2Degree's I can only assume that they either have a really, really bad inventory system or are seriously understaffed, or a combo of both.

I can understand having estimates of stock availability dates due to uncertainty from Apple of delivery timeframes but how hard can it be to let customers who pre-ordered know if they have a phone set aside or not?
