2degrees

@FrothingDog it would be worth comparing the latency of the path between peak and non-peak hours to verify where the latency is being increased and if you have any private IP addressing like 192.168.255.x in the middle of the path to determine if there is a CGNAT component that you route via.

I was working with FortitudeNZ examples in the weekend and we could see positive improvements to latency when he's using a dedicated public IP instead of a shared CGNAT IP. This goes for any ISP, for the best gaming experience I would always recommend using a dedicated public IP as the CGNAT appliance will inherently add additional time as it has to process/translate your traffic.

I would recommend setting up IPV6 on your router / LAN if you haven't already, as IPV6 will not be NATd as it's a public framed-IP / framed route.

Me and three other friends in Auckland using 2 degrees have all been getting huge packet loss in the evenings of 1.5.24 and 2.5.24.

Dota 2 is unplayable for us on Australian servers.

Two other friends in Auckland on different providers aren't experiencing any packet loss.

Will be switching providers asap.

I'm also in Auckland, am also getting high packet loss in Dota 2. Mate in South Island who's with Spark is getting high loss too. A few Aussies in the servers we're playing in also reported getting high loss, some from Melbourne some from Sydney. I don't think it's exclusively a 2D issue.

It is affecting zoom meeting at work for me and I think it's definitely relates to 2degrees as online gaming and zoom meeting are two different IPs.

Considering people both in NZ on non-2d ISPs and people in Australia are having packet loss issues on Dota 2 and you're having issues with CS2, I think the issue is with Valve's Australian servers

I am getting buffering on some apps during peak times such as twitch. I have also found that I am reducing the playback quality on youtube at times to stop buffering.

Speeds are still good however, it must be something else causing it. I am not in the North Island.

Looks like the Valve public AUS/NZ/OCE server IP is 103.10.125.146, I'll be monitoring it over the next few days and see if I can find anything.

At a glance, our AKL/NSW IX links that we use to route to/from Valvue 103.10.125.0/24 look ok, plenty of headroom.

Unfortunately Valve don't have a public lookingglass to confirm the return path.

Can see some reddit posts on AUS lag issues. Downloaded the client and could feel the input lag when clicking my ghoul dude around at the start of a match, took the SS below. I'm also not seeing any network issues on our end that would be causing this for 2degrees customers. Suspect it's server side as other ISPs are also having issues with lag to Valve AUS servers?

i dont konw but that screen shot is exactly what i have seen, its not always maybe 50% of a game is more than 60% packetloss and as high as 85%. Ping solid 25.

This all goes away if you try it on hotspot (spark) just with worse and jumping ping. So it something in the 2degrees stack.
