Can confirm. Does appear to be a bit better around home now.

Only time will tell if the dropped data session issue is fixed.

However, the other issue comes with attempting to a traceroute. See here @Sounddude:

This also sometimes happens on the fixed line network and looks like a MPLS misconfiguration somewhere.

mobiusnz:

Gotta say Peeps - I do love Geekzone for this sort of thing. Some time back I posted some info about my signal at my office going to complete and utter trash. Quick chat with someone here and 2D had an engineer down testng the signal at my office that morning and he confirmed he was trying to triangulate a bad signal that someone had plugged in some illegal gear that was transmitting on the licensed frequency.

The fact we can come here - Put as much information as possible in a post and get informed responses and discussion including staff from the company involved and work toward a solution is so efficient.

The alternative of ringing the help desk is painful beyond belief due to most helpdesk people assuming the customer is a moron - Because 99% of the time that assumption is correct.

Its a very good place to find real answers and get confirmation others are seeing similar issues and we're not mad.

It's great when providers can come together with people with technical knowledge and get it done and sorted.

This is actually how I got my job at One NZ over 2 years ago and was there for almost that long. We all came together over a speed provision issue over on UFB on a NP connection and I literally this is not hard to communicate this and tell the user how it is and how it should be done.

Bravo to Sounddude and Quentin. Good to see you two still kicking around :~)

Has this fault come back for some?

Seeing > 8% PL now, most speedtests (barring Chorus Fibre lab for some reason that pulls 260mbps over LTE) below 50mbps whilst uploads are all < 5mbps.

Could an isolated cell issue though...

I don't know if it's the same thing and I'm not tech enough to have done any sort of testing but I've had very inconsistent/stuttering mobile data speeds when hot spotting (this is the main use of my data) in Grey Lynn Auckland near the army recruitment centre / Bunnings warehouse area of Great north road in Arch Hill. Probably been going on a month or more which seems to tie in with the experiences of others.

Browsing on Trade-me can crawl to a point where it's like the late 90's when you browsed with images turned off to speed up download but its very inconsistent  -  in general I'm noting stalls and really slow speeds in patches. This is generally at night between 1900-2030 timeframes.

Was surprised to see this thread a few days ago and see it's not just with me - I'd wondered if it was related with the new cell tower that was installed outside Hirepool this year.

If anyone from 2deg wants to message to to do any software based testing please feel free to message me.

(This is running macOS via iPhones sitting on either 4G or 5G for data)

@Prudle Can you do a speedtest.net to the Auckland 2degrees server using the iOS App and post the results?

@Linux - is this the sort of thing you're after? (sorry for delay - just rechecking this thread now)

Hi @Linux - thanks, yes, it's been OK this week.

I'll repeat and post if it goes slow again.

@Prudle 2degrees is basically part way thru upgrading 100% of its mobile network from the RAN (Cellsites) back down to the core network. So much going on moving from older Huawai hardware to the latest Ericsson

@Linux

Hi again - it feels very patchy on downloads from all sites tonight - is this normal numbers again?

With 5% packet loss, L18, L21 and L7 in CA, -90 RSRP.

This is the same fault again as last time.

@Sounddude can this be looked at again? I don't want to port away but if I lose my UFB service or if I'm at work then this is an experience I don't want to have.

We have found the issue and should be mitigated now. Shouldn't see the reoccurrence again.
