An update you say!?

Well, on the one hand, the Geekzone community has proven once again how invaluable it is. It's been years since I've contributed (sorry team) but it's still just as powerful as it used to be.

Short answer, my WoW ping is back to normal and so far so good on other services, if anything changes I'll let you know but looking good.

On the other hand, I have yet to hear a peep from the official 2 degrees support team. I got a "we've lodged a fault" message, then a text saying "we have questions, please email or call within 48 hours" on a Saturday morning with no actual contact details. Automated messages with no details.

Good result but honestly, the bar for support should be much, much higher even if it's being outsourced.

Thank you Geekzone and Cxf for getting shit done!

Have to say this made me laugh, probably wasn't meant to be emailed to me verbatim by a CSR but oh well:

So do the thing I probably can't do and contact the company that probably won't respond to little old me.

Thank goodness for you guys!

Bumping a few months later....

Has happened again. Months of normal (low) latency and all of a sudden bam, 200-300ms ping times in WoW.

Just don't get it...

Oh trust me I appreciate it, and I do get it, just so weird that you can have years (6) of stability but then issues.

@cxf you were a champion before, if you have any wisdom/insights/suggestions I would be appreciative

When you have high ingame latency can you try ping the Oce ip 158.115.197.229 and see if the results correlate.

Do you see high latency when you boot up a character on a realm that doesn't have sharding capabilities like classic era realms? Arugal or maladath.

Trying to work out if the game is putting you on an EU shard or something odd like that.

I installed Classic to test this (shudder. I played vanilla, I don't want to go back).

Character was on Arugal

My bad, it looks like that IP is used for traceroute but they block icmp. Do you see the latency to the penultimate hop like I can below?

That "nexthop" upstream transit provider they introduced early this year is awful, there were problems then too:
https://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=81&topicid=318711

Not actually sure who they are or why they are there. Reminds me of when Telecom NZ use to route all Australian traffic through their subsidiary AAPT due to policy reasons. 2degrees still does open peering in Aus right?

Or is this a case of Telstra being Blizzard's choice of DDoS mitigation transit provider?

Use a VPN to change the routing or change ISP?
