Query, what's FDD-LTE (and is it used in NZ)?
SNicolle:
Must have misread something the other day.
I've emailed the manufacturer but slow going so far.
if it doesn't work w VoLTE then it'll be off to the retailed to be returned.
when did you buy it?

pretty sure my wife got it in December. I'm not too worried - JB Hi-Fi website still says 4g calling so I'm happy to take it up with the as necessary.
was working well until I got called in to trouble shoot why calls stopped which coincided with 2d turning off 3G

[Mod edit (MF): removed to prevent AI scrappers from using AI incorrect info]
That is twice that AI garbage has been posted..
It's practically verbatim and it's very wrong.
This is why you fact check AI before posting it twice.
Edit: I'm actually going to correct the majority of it.
2degrees does not have any LTE 2600 on any cell site.
Spark has a lot of LTE 2300.
LTE 900 is used by One NZ and 2degrees, whilst Spark opted to use 850 in the 5G space.
LTE 1800 is not just common on urban sites, there's actually a number of "rural" sites with 1800.
LTE 2100 is actually a preferred layer for 5G uplinks and FWA connections(you get weighted and pushed to 2100 at least at One NZ, can't confirm for the other two). Although you will CA in LTE only areas or if your UE is only LTE.
I am not a moderator, but for (fug friendly words) sakes, please stop posting AI garbage without fact checking or even looking at the big three websites and seeing what bands they actually support and use.

People, stop using AI for the sake of using AI.
It is not smart.

That post should be removed as it's misleading and probably annoying a few people at all three networks to be misrepresented like that.

Actually in the end I went to Wikipedia and found what I was looking for (no AI involved 🙂):
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duplex_(telecommunications)#Frequency-division_duplexing
Frequency-division duplexing (FDD) means that the transmitter and receiver operate using different carrier frequencies.
I had an interesting one with the wife's phone (Redmi 12 5G) last Saturday when inbound/outbound calls suddenly stopped for her. I told her voLTE was probably nor enabled in the SIM settings so I'd sort it out when she finished work. When I finally got hold of the phone there was no voLTE setting in the SIM manager. After a little bit of digging around I opened the phone app and dialled *#*#86583#*#* then checked the SIM manager again - a voLTE setting was now there (enabled) and she could make/receive calls again. Would've thought this should've been a default setting out of the box.
Ok, I am in two minds what to do, do I go and get another kid's watch and try again in the hope it will work on these networks once 3G is totally off across the country.

@TG09 You ask the retailer to confirm if it is going to work on 2degrees, OneNZ, SparkNZ VoLTE if they can't give you a Yes then don't buy it
Hi all, I have a Huawei P60 Pro bought from China 2yrs ago. It has 4G but no option is visible for VoLte. I have googled and saw a video, someone had one which theirs had it going to the same settings area I don't see the option. I have a Vodafone (One) simcard in the second slot and I am able to make calls on that sim. System was updated not long ago.
Any help?
Probably because you still have One NZ 3G service, but not for long. Huawei doesn't sell phones here anymore so not sure you will have an update that gets it going.

One NZ SIM shows VoLTE icon on Huawei Nova 5T. It's also listed as VoLTE compatible on the Skinny website.
It's really a shame 2degrees missed the boat on this one.
