2 out of three are not particularly impressive IMO.
9c a text is great pricing for low user of Texts, but anyone who texts more than a few times each month is likley to have oneof the Xt or Voda text bundles ons which work out far cheaper per text than 9c (the least value for money one, Xt's 150 text Extra, is $6 so that is 4c/text). 2D are definitely going to have to need a decent text bundle as well as cheaper regular texts to attract any of the texting population.
the $20 topup getting you free 100 texts is pretty good though, albeit not much different from XT's bonus topup scheme. with that, $20 topup gets you $5 bonus credit, which is only just below the value of the 150 text Extra, so very similar value for money in that case. i.e. with a $20 topup 2d give you 100 texts, XT give you nearly enough to get 150 texts (or something else if you prefer). very similar IMO.
However the per minute price is what does impress me. The ad doesn't specify it is talking about prepaid anynet pricing, but if it is (and it should be, if they are comparing it to the 89c price point), then 44c/min is really very competitive.

simon14: Remember, if a user texts telecom from 2degrees, chances are Telecom will text 2degrees back.
So, 9.5c from 2d to TC, then 9.5c from TC to 2d. No loss but they still charged the customer the original 9c for the text which they keep.
It doesn't affect what you have said, but telecom only charge 2degrees 3.5c per text message
Actually I think those are just 'undertakings', or offers, and so not yet in effect unless the Comcom/Govt accepts them...
My understanding is that undertakings are legally binding, and since the media release is dated 30th June 2009 and the first column of the table is up until the 31st March 2009 I would expect that to contain actual figures.

More than a few times each month? 9c TXT gives you 66 TXTs/month before "Xt's 150 text Extra" is cheaper. I know some people are text maniacs, but 66/month is plenty for many people, myself included.
Screeb sorry to be pedantic but the correct figure is 53 TXTs and you "break even" with TXT 150.
Remember that XT topups contain a minimum 25% topup bonus, which equates to a 20% discount in real terms ($6 = $4.80).
That assumes that the $20 topup and $5 bonus is used within the 6 month expiry period (bonuses don't roll over), but if you are using the $6 TXT bundle then that requirement is easy to achieve.

"Median average"? I assume you mean just "average" or "mean". That is no doubt highly skewed by the people who do tens of thousands per month. Like I said, there are plenty of people who send less than 66 per month. And 66 is certainly more than "a few".

No, I think he means the Median (the number which half of all users send less than and half of all users send more than) which is not subject to the 'skewing' you mention.

Yes, I know what median means, but he said "median average" which doesn't really make sense, and I've never seen median TXT usage stats, only mean.
