kyhwana2: Are you sure you guys aren't just trying to connect to servers that you have crappy routs to? If you can connect to some servers and stay connected but not others, that suggests it's not throttling per say..
(Look up the list of IRC servers for the network you want on and try connecting to different ones)
Jiriteach:garvani: yes im guessing that rapidshare, megaupload etc are there for that very reason.. those sites use a huge amount of bandwidth, and any sensible isp will restrict there usage, its the whole 1% of your customers using 90% of the network.
*hint* I would love for an isp to release a graph of websites that generate the most traffic.. my guess is that rapidshare, megaupload, hotfile are all in the top10..
But this has only started in the last few days. It's as if there was a recent change to the network. Speeds were great before.
BTW Hotfile is not on that list. Hotfile is still the usual speed. Not sure what other sites fall into this category. I wouldn't mind if speeds were limited, yes I don't expect 2-4mb of these sites, but you can barely load their homepage. A download from RS yesterday was going at 2k/s. Who wouldn't get frustrated, especially when you're only downloading a 8mb file! :)
