And they are pretty much all stoked at it.

In saying that my sister moved from an old $19.95 vodafone plan to 2degrees because the monthly magic top up will see her using about half the amount or less at the current usage of the phone, which will probably go up since its now affordable to use.

Mum has moved because she was angry at vodafone being useless on the phone and it means that its cheaper for my sister and me to call her with the majic top up.

I know a couple of people that have moved their spare phones to 2 degrees to just get the bonus credit etc out of them.

I would say that 100000 is a gross underestimation after thinking about it.

I agree. It wouldn't surprise me if they had at least 150,000 customers by now. Until the CEO releases the numbers one can only speculate.

Depends what the problem was. I doubt it was anything "special" to 3G. These days all the equipment handles 2, 3 and 4G at the same time. Often the only difference is the feeders and antennae. So, no, I doubt 2G would have made any difference at all.

Depends what the problem was. I doubt it was anything "special" to 3G. These days all the equipment handles 2, 3 and 4G at the same time. Often the only difference is the feeders and antennae. So, no, I doubt 2G would have made any difference at all.

There are four things I look for in a mobile provider. Price,Coverage,Reliability,Customer support.
The TCOM XT network since it launched has been consistently proven to be unreliable with continuous major outages on a regular basis and XT customers continually complaining of dropped calls, Trouble with TXT messages etc.
Telecom has big problems on their hands until these reliability issues are finally sorted out. Vfone and 2Degrees have been inundated with ex XT customers wanting a more reliable mobile provider.
When the $10 TXT offer is withdrawn on the CDMA network at the end of March I will be interested to see which way these customers will go.

I had 2 2degrees SIM cards when they launched. Put them in old phones and lent them to family visiting from overseas. Worked brilliantly and saved them a great deal of money. Any overseas visitor should do the same. In January learned of an accountant who had ditched his business Vodafone account to go to 2degrees. I doubted this would work for me (I'm often in the UK, Singapore and Australia) - but had a look at the roaming charges, did the maths, got out one of the 2degrees SIMS, and at last I am free from Vodafone after years of overcharging, rip offs, no service, timewasting "service" calls... having to run on a "top up" basis is a very small price to pay. The changeover was a breeze. Funny thing is that a few hours before I did it (so they could not have known) I was interrupted by a call in the middle of a business meeting from someone who could not speak English. I eventually established he was from Vodafone calling to tell me I had an "out of date plan" and that he wanted to offer me a "better" one! The outflow of their customers must be biting. If it gets serious they might even hire English-speaking staff.

It is 100% factually correct, my actual experience, and a considerable understatement of my experience with Vodafone. My only connection (pun? - that could be a joke?) with 2degrees is that I have 2 SIM cards.

Some people do not realise that we have had a new mobile operator since August 2009. And TelstraClear launched as a MVNO lat Wednesday.

Based on the general ignorance when giving out my 022-2xxxxxx number to people and them not understanding/wanting to call it, I am still giving out my 021 ported to CDMA to people.

Its the same crap as the local numbers starting with 9 all over again. Some people still don't think those are real. Bloody ignoramuses.

No just questioning the b/s of cheaper roaming and businesses better of on 2D. Have you seen what they say what they say about roaming data on their website? To avoid it, great business plan.

12.37pm: 206,000 people "actively using and paying for 2degrees". [This works out to roughly 4% of NZ's 4.7 million mobile connections, as counted by the Commerce Commission. Most analysts had expected 2degrees to achieve 100,000 after its first year. It's done it in six months].
