NonprayingMantis:

lowest for minimum no of MB you must purchase? again, not true. Telecom and Voda both offer $1 for 10MB per day - which is a lower amount. and cheaper effecitve rate.

But once you use your 10 meg for that day it's $1/Meg on Telecom..

Will this new 2D dataplan be usable on 3G sticks when they go 3G which hopefully will be soon..

kyhwana2: Nice.. especially the 500txts to any network thing..

OTOH, $6/50MB is still more expensive than vodafone..

OTOH, VF bundles can only be bought once a month, so you have to use exactly 100MB a month to enjoy the effective rate of 10c/MB. If you less data, you'll pay a higher effective rate. You have to use at least 83MB a month for VF to be cheaper.

Not true - you can buy VF prepay data bundles as often as you like.

So, for 50MB with Vodafone it costs $5.
For 100MB you can either pay $10 up front (if you know you're going to use at least 100MB in the month) or buy it in 10MB blocks for ... $10 (if you think you're going to use up to 100MB).

For those that use more than 100MB in a month we can give you:

512MB for $29.95
2GB for $49.95
4GB for $69.95

You can double those amounts as well plus we have 3G.

Cheers

Paul

i still forget, ill probably receive the text read in once and then forget about it.

You'll get it once a day as long as you're below 10MB, but still have some left (i.e. if you don't have a pack, or you did but you've used it up completely, we won't annoy you every day to tell you!) Wink

still think you need an auto option.  would make my life easier.

Not exactly true either...

The Vodafone "top up" data add-ons have a restriction where you may only have either one of them active at any one time, and cannot buy another pack mid-month until the active "top up" has been depleted or dropped after a month.

e.g. if you have Broadband Lite (100MB) then top up 512MB during the month, you cannot then add another 100MB/512MB "top up" during that month while the 512MB top up is still being used.

Which means that once you chew through the top up data, you need to immediately get another one after it has all been used up otherwise you drop to casual rates. For people like me, I had to leave in around 10MB of my base data plan and then add a data pack then to allow the system time to notify me when I chew through the extra data pack, and for me to be able to get additional pack without it jumping to $1/day data.

What 2degrees have done here is that you can buy multiple packs in advance, and then let you churn through them one-by-one without that worry of being on casual just as you finish the "top up" data.

I'm no expect on the details of VF Ts & Cs. I can't find any sign that you can buy data bundles on Supa Prepay at all, its not available as an add-on. And I read the para you quoted for MBB as saying that the 10c/MB rate only applies once you have doubled your data, ie over 200MB. And don't forget that as soon as you go from 100MB to 101MB they hit you with another $10 so your effective rate goes up to 20c/MB at that point. And doesn't drop down to below 12c/MB until you have used 166MB. And it all expires at the end of the (original) month so you have to fork out for another $10 bundle even if you still have data remaining from your double up...

You can buy 100MB data blocks on Supa Prepay but NOT on Simply Fail.
After the 100MB it's 10c/MB. Well, it WAS when I looked earlier. I think VF have changed their website around since earlier today!

FOr the record, 2GB/4GB is $60/80 on open term. :)

Odd that 512MB on prepay is $30 yet $40 on an open term contract? Whats up with that?

The problem with large contract packages is that the "rack rate" is not the same of your final rate - if you don't use 100% of you package - not less, not more - then your final cost per MB will be higher. The 50MB add on is a good size. I would be happy with three packs every month - which would cost less than what I pay now for a 512MB on account plan.

That is a good thought - many companies make their money from plans that people are not always going to fully utilize. Having smaller chunks for less is a good proposition.

$6 for 50mb is something like $120/gig.

You can get 50Gb/Month on a fixed line plan for that kind of money.

That's true. But you'll probably find the cord dangling from the end of your mobile phone a little inconvenient after the first couple of kilometres.

Well... I would, anyway.

Yep! But my Naked DSL line is $70 without data..

But vodafone telecom are both still $100/102GB.. (Depending if it's Gibi or Giga)
Unless you go for the 2/4GB plans, which are still $30/$20GB on open term 2/4GB monthly plans.

That is not comparing apples with apples when did you last use adsl sitting on the beach or driving down the southern motorway?
