it's a pretty sweet offer for people who do a lot of offnet calling.

but thinking about tis from a whole of market point of view, considering the comcom laid the smackdown on voda for launching an on-net plan that was waay cheaper than offnet calling, indicating that MTRs are too high (supposedly), does this very low offnet pricing equality launched by 2D indicate that 2D can remain competitive with the current MTR rates and thus they don't need to be lowered?

The new bundle gives great value if you want to call everyone in NZ and don't want to worry about the cost. However if you look at the other posts people have pointed out, on net rates and rates to China and India are cheaper because the MTRs get in the way.
If the ComCom regulate MTRs or eliminate MTRs then we could see even better deals.

So how can 2 degrees and the callingcards offer great rates to china.

Particually the cards that use the vodafone network to get the calls from users. Amazingly low rates there to call overseas.

I'm not, they are just lower than the current MTRs Nationally in New Zealand.
from the skype pricebook as a 3rd party looking in you can see that the cost of terminating to a mobile in NZ is expencive than Hong Kong.

In the case of China and HK they use Bill and Keep for voice termination.
