Just bought one, seems to work fine. Am getting about 1.5 mbps near Royal Oak in Auckland, which is on par with Vodafone and XT here. But really low latency - about 100 ms!

Would like to get a charger for it as it tries to install software each time you connect it to a PC.

Although you can do the same thing (WiFi hotspot) with FroYo (Android 2.2), it's a battery killer. Battery life for the E5 seems pretty good so far..

When I had it here I just used a USB wall charger just fine...

Thanks, that was my plan until I looked in the manual, which specified a 650 mA charger. Most USB wall chargers are 1A. But I'd expect a 1A wall charger to be fine as long the battery voltage wasn't really low.

Measured at 9PM on a Sunday. Not too bad at all.

Having tried both XT and Vodafone data sticks, I'm hoping that this will work better and be more reliable.

That just means it'll charge slower, I doubt it'll hurt anything. A USB port supplies 500ma max.

Thanks, I've since found that once the device installs the software on the PC, there's a setting to stop it running automatically. So for normal use, I'll just use a USB cable.

A minor problem that I've found is that the default setting is to disable the WiFi after 10 minutes of inactivity. So if the laptop goes into standby, then after 10 mins the E5 shuts down its wireless and you have to manually turn it back on. I've now disabled this feature for normal use, but it could be useful when running the E5 on battery power.
