Funny to watch 2D running rings aruond VF and TNZ. Its like watching a little kid on red bull?in an old folks home.

dangerous and annoying?

Actually, hat is probably exactly how Telecom and Vodafone see 2Degrees too - dangerous and annoying.
lol, great initial quote the image of it and a great reply too!

anyway, I'm certainly going to be returning my orcon data sticks pronto now. As not only is 2degrees now cheaper, but I'm also sick with the trouble I've had in getting orcon working (simply, it hasn't).

Is sad I even need mobile data though, but the fact is woosh is so unreliable and pathetic with their speeds I need it (and annoyingly the hotel like place where I'm living means I can't get wired broadband except through them at even more exorbitant prices)

So perhaps not. Again, just wish 2ds had coverage in hamiltron, i'd switch in a heartbeat.

Ditto, I'm in Hamilton also and disappointed we arent part of the special 3G zones for their mobile broadband plans.

I moved to 2 Degree's prepay for my iPhone last week, and have just put a VOIP client on my iPhone, so I'm paying $20/month to 2 Degree's for 1GB of data and 500 TXT and then $7.95 to WorldxChange and I have a landline number with free local calling on my mobile all throughout Auckland.

$27.95 for iPhone data and free unlimited landline calling. Now NZ is starting to get competitive. :-)

That is just pure speculation, I would rather get something that is CONFIRMED and PERMANENT, cause once the dream is over you are back to hell...

Speaking of promo Vodafone's 2GB is only $25 for 6 month and then back to normal price of the last 6 months (with 12 month contract), but like telecom the "special" is not FOREVER.

Those people who pay $60 for 2GB must be really dumbfolded now, cos u only get 500MB more for double the price lol

ntsan: Isn't that 1.5GB on done til Nov? Afterwards it still 500MB for $30? And shouldn't it be $20 instead of $22.5 after top up bonus? So unless Telecom make 1.5GB permanent (or 1GB which match 2degree after bonus) then 2degree is still better value

Sorry, I didn't word my post very well. By "current deal" I was indeed referring to the promotional special offer, that may end in a month. Also, 2degrees is better value both ways and by "better" I meant that Telecom's prepaid offering is better than its postpaid plan. Sorry for any confusion.

This is pretty cool, almost no need for a home phone and home broadband if you are a light internet user. You could just do wifi hotspot on an android phone. It would be cool if there was an app for android that automatically enabled wifi hotspot when these conditions are met.

1. Your phone detects it's location is at your house.
eg. through cellphone tower AGPS, or GPS or detecting your home wifi
2. It is plugged into a power source

$25 for 2GB/month "naked dsl" + being able to use the data on your phone when your out and about

That's brilliant! You should immediately patent the idea and sue everyone who implements it - step 3, profit!

[Seriously, that IS a cool idea].

haha, the only problem is it might be bad for the battery to leave ur phone always plugged into the charger. I know Galaxy S displays a warning to unplug the phone when it's fully charged.

The other option might be to clone the SIM card, can you use both sim cards at once?

You can do exactly this with Android 2.2 and Tasker... You would have to use cell ID as the location criteria, but if you combine that with the condition that it is plugged into the power, it would pretty fooproof.

Nah, that's just some greenie tree hugging thing to stop you wasting power by leaving your charger plugged in when it isn't needed.

I think it's a requirement for energy star certification.

Personally I find it a pain in the *** on my Nokia phone.

Cool, would tasker turn it off again, when you unplugged the power?
