billgates: I actually moved from 2D to XT because data is cheaper. Don't want to spend $20/month on 2D. I want 400MB/month min and get 480MB/month for $11 with XT.

HOW?!

its $18 for 240MB :S

My understanding of the way it works is this:

The 240MB smartphone add-on (currently doubled to 480MB for the next 12 months)  is $28, which is split into $12 for text and $16 for the data.
If you never use the texts though, then you only get charged for the data.
That gets you to $16 for 480Mb of data.
But with maximum bonus topups that is effectively reduced by 25%, to get $12 for 480MB.
Not sure where the $11 comes from though - prob a rounding error.

what?

so im supposed to be getting double data as well as text plan? because i only just changed my data plan, on the 21st of December...? to the  $18 240mb one... and i get 240mb :|

NOT HAPPY :(

Not as good as 2Degrees double top up, 2GB for $12.5 per month FTW

quickymart: If I was to go with 2degrees, I wouldn't be porting my number, I'd get a brand new 022 one. I don't think it's fair that people get charged extra when they call/text me and don't know which network I'm on.

If only logic was that easy.

Fact is there are 022 numbers ported to the other Telco's so there is no guarantee when you call/text an 022 number it's on 2Degs.... Since the very first port we all lost the surety of knowing which network a number was on

That's why you can SMS (for free) the mobile number to 300, and the local carrier will say if the number is on-net or off-net.  Not all that helpful on a day-to-day basis.  But the service is there.

I'm picking that they'll top 600,000 .... (if you take into account the likelyhood of massive surge in activations around the Xmas period.)

FREE TXT 021 *******  or 022***** or 027***** or what ever to 300, it replies saying if the numbers on your network or not.
