Has anyone got any suggestions for breaking contract I assume its possible as Telecom did it to all of us when they decided to renege on ther all u can eat plans is it possible to do it to slingshot and give one of the others a go?

No, in the contract it says they shape/etc traffic, so you can't get out of the contract without paying the termination fee.

What speeds do you get to http://speedtest.slingshot.co.nz/ ?

I doubt you are easily going to get out of the contract term because torrents from internetational seeds are slow.

You could change to one of the other Slingshot plans that has a data cap, they use a separate bandwidth pool to AYCE customers for international apparently and the regular plans still have the "un metered" off peak period.

If you find that general internet performance is slow (which it is rather slow on the AYCE) then in theory you have somehing - dont need to talk about torrents.

The thing about telecom bigtime is they didnt cancel it on anyone. They phased it out over a period of 12 months as they waited for everyones contracts to expire.

Yes you can. If you have different expectations of the connection then you have a failure for meeting of the minds over the contract, so its not valid. CGA says it has to be fit for purpose, so again, contract not valid. There are so many ways out of contracts like this that you are fine.

im on ayce - and while i considered the options suggested in this thread - decided that 7-10G per day is OK using hotfile (and previously rs) for what i pay

admittedly this is running my machine 24/7 to achieve this - but meh i'm paying $80/month for AYCE and getting 200-300G/month seems pretty reasonable to me...

oh yeah - so whats my pojnt?!

i suspect ss's throttling and dpi is too much of a pain to try and beat and with a hf acct and idm you can get a chunk load of data anyway
