You guys from 2deg can say all you like that you have it sorted but I have a phone that will not connect to any network in Australia although I have another Australian phone that is connected to optus and working fine from my location.
I have already called 2deg twice and don't see any advantage in calling again as your call centre just say they are working on the problem.
Three days is a long time for the system to be broken and how about a statement on your website, some of us don't waste our time on facebook or twitter

Still the same issue for me. I can connect to optus, but voice and sms aren't working (as i described earlier). Four days without coverage makes you realise just how reliant we are on cellphones these days...

Is it possible that im having issues because i have a ported 021 number?

Is it free to call the international customer support number? Would rather not spend a small fortune ringing from the phone in my hotel room if i can avoid it!!

If Optus is not working for you try manually selecting Telstra Mobile (not 3TELSTRA). Normally that would not work for you but it is open temporarily.

No it's not related to you having a ported number,

John

Just been informed by NOC that voice, SMS and data is now working. If you can't get an 'Automatic' connection try manually selecting Optus, Vodafone or Telstra Mobile, as Salty says.

If you're still having problems please PM your 2degrees number, exact location, your phone make and model and if possible an alternative contact #.

Apologies for the inconvenience caused.

Had a similar problem, in Melbourne Australia. I noticed it wasn't working at 11:00NZDT Monday, when I switched the phone on, after switching off overnight.

I don't have that phone on me, but I'll try again when I get home tonight.

I agree with Gummo that there's no landline support number (+64 222002000 is a mobile number), they should put one (+649.......) - there's quite a cost difference between calling landlines and mobiles. Having said that, they're pretty responsive on email, or their Log-A-Problem webform.

And I also agree about the lack of status on their website. They should run something like this http://advisories.internode.on.net/

On the 'Contact Us' page is the number to get hold of Customer Care when overseas - +6422 200 2000 - http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/contactus.

We appreciate this has been frustrating for our overseas customers and have replied to customers on here, Twitter and Facebook with updates as we've received them.  We understand the inconvenience especially at this time of the year. We have been in constant contact with our roaming partners to get things working.

Voice should be working, problems have been with SMS.  However tests have been carried and now SMS is working between Optus and 2degrees.

If you are experiencing problems try a phone please call us on 0064 22 200 2000 from a landline.

Kind regards
^POB

I'm not sure if I'm an idiot but whenever I pressed the contact us link on the main page it never took me to the page shown above.

On a side note, I am back in NZ now and I was wondering are 2degrees going to offer any compensation for this outage? I'm more frustrated at the lack and slow acknowledgement that there was a problem, it was by chance that I found this forum and am grateful that there are people here who were actively trying to inform us that there were problems.

Why should they? The roaming service is provided by a third party (not 2degrees themselves), and it was out of 2degrees control. All of this would be covered under "best effort" basis. If they offer any sort of credit, it would purely be out of goodwill, IMO.

So what is the official Australia 2Degrees roaming network name?

Automatic selection appears to put me on 3TELSTRA. Is that correct?

Vodafone Australia also provide 2G for 2degrees roaming customers. We temporarily moved customers onto Telstra Mobile following this roaming issue.

So it's normally Optus (3G) and Vodafone Aus (2G)

For completeness, Optus also works on 2G (says me, who has a non-3G phone), cf. Brunei, Japan, and Korea which are 3G only.
